PSA: If you use a piece of software, encounter a bug, and find out it was already reported, DO NOT comment with "I have the same issue" if you have nothing else to contribute. At the very least, add data that might be useful. ESPECIALLY DO NOT leave any comments if the maintainers already said "we are working on a fix".

My mailbox is dying under the load of all the people who have the same bug as me and also have the urge to comment about them having this bug 🙄

Do make the scrollable things extend to the edges of the screen though. That clipping looks odd. Or, if you can't, do this:

I need your opinion, I can't decide between bordered or unbordered sections, which do you prefer?

Bordered vs Unbordered

And remove the "swipe for more". It's bad when you have to explain your UI with words. However, in this particular case, it's redundant, because the peeking item acts as an affordance that tells the user that they can scroll.

— Fedya who?

But last time I checked, DO only offered all kinds of pay-per-use fancy cloud stuff, and the closest thing they had to actual servers were VDSes that were way too expensive for their specs.

My main complaint about Duolingo is the repetition. It's fine at first, but when you're more than a hundred lessons into Arabic and every other question is still "what sound does this make", you start questioning your own sanity.

Nobody seems to have noticed it but the Mastodon project have been granted funding by @NGIZero in the Entrust fund.

This is amazing, but the best part is that this funding is targeted at implementing… Quote Posts 🎉

This effort started several months ago and we already did some preliminary work, but this will be a big feature for our next 4.4 version. This funding will cover the ActivityPub work, as well as backend, web frontend and official mobile app implementation.

Oh, I'm just working on reposts in Smithereen. Just finished rewriting how Announce works. Support for quote posts was the next thing on my list. Will Mastodon use an existing standard (like Threads for example) or introduce its own?

Fred, Go and Rust are relatively new. Oh and the server I'm writing this from is in Java btw.

    grishka,
    @grishka@friends.grishka.me avatar

Fred, I personally chose Java because this is the language I know best. It isn't without its flaws, but I'm okay with them. In all these years, I learned to live with them. Using an unfamiliar language for a project this ambitious would be asking for trouble. Same goes for most other open-source projects, imo.
