I'm developing grid based / turn based strategy game with unreal engine, in two people studio. I'm spending much time with programming with cpp nowadays. (I miss 3D modelling and rigging!)

Loves sci-fi (specially with #mecha!) Lots of curiosity. Learning something new is exciting.

Gonna say it out loud here:

  • As western video game publishers struggle with their stock prices and lack of investments, firing people became their go to strategy to make quarterly reports look good.

  • While in the East, companies take advantage of lax labour protection laws and terrible job market to crunch existing workers more.

  • I have lost many colleagues due to crunch, because they were right, this industry are full of men who had internalized crunch culture and sold it as hard work.

If my understanding from what I saw in the debugging is right,

In UE5.4, everything from the CSV string table is displaying as "Missing String Table Entry" now.

Is there someone seen the string table works fine in 5.4?

Forget it. I was afraid that there might be something extra I had missed, (For example, if I missed reading some important upgrade note...) so I debugged again and searched about this again. But it seems the bug certainly.

Anyway, I still can't believe this bug was included in the release. I want to be more tolerant of human error.

I'm modifying my list view widget to adjust the column size if there appeared a larger column. Before that, my listview made widgets of all items at once, to decide column size. But I thought sometimes it must feel ugly. So I started... but SListView did not auto-size the column width as I thought. Sometimes it did, but sometimes it did not.

I thought there was some problem with interactions between my ListView Items and HeaderRow, or their columns. But, it did not. SListView is also SWidget, so it could not have a size other than zero before the prepass to compute the desired size. So, After adding one item to SListView, and then adding items stopped because the size was over. SListView had adjusted its column width with only the first item.

At the next tick, SListView Got the size, so it added the other items. But I added codes to auto-sizing column width at the timing of refresh only. I could see only the auto-sized column width for just the first item. But as I said above, To know what this means, I had to spend not a little time to find out that it is related to SListView with size zero.

I wonder if anybody tried to use FXAA before doing display mapping BUT by still applying and reverting a curve ? 🤔

Aka:
1 - Switch from HDR to SDR
2 - Apply FXAA
3 - Switch back from SDR to HDR
4 - Apply regular post-process stuff

Erosion’s working again! Scale’s a bit off because there are steep drainage basins everywhere, but it’s once again good enough.

Grumpy-looking player avatar scurries through a stylized game world. There’s a bunch of desert, which transitions to a forested area further away. Several drainage basins.

@_benui Thank you for sharing! Interesting and useful. I remember when I knew the secret of the pure function node the first time. I remember also when I knew that the container output pins of the node were the copy.

I used to be enthusiastic about technology.

Was a teen when people made homepages. I could talk to people around the world.

Mobile phones were neat. You could text your friends.

Then with smart phones you could practice language and play genuinely innovative games for a couple of bucks.

I can't remember the last time I was genuinely excited by tech. Maybe it's a factor of becoming a jaded old piece of shit.
