The international system replaces one of the country's two traditional methods, where people are deemed to be a year old at birth - taking into account time spent in the womb.
You know what fucks me up? The fact that several different #Fediverse platforms can seemingly talk to each other seamlessly, even the ones that seemingly were not even meant to talk to each other. Stuff on #mastodon is visible here on #kbin. My account from a #Lemmy instance can see my other account on #CalcKey. There's several different "not-Twitter" services each with their own interfaces and instances, and they all chat with each other. I can feel my brain expanding as I learn all of this.
Me and the fiance we always fight about the A/C or dehumidifier. For me coming from central Europe, as soon as the humidity goes over 65% I’m sweaty and hot and can’t get dry, I hate it. She as a Korean seems never to sweat at all and even when the humidity is at 80% she seems to have no problems and thinks running the A/C...
Noch nicht mitbekommen? www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhD0s0QmdXI “Why metalheads are happier people”. Und hinzukommt dass Metal so weit ich weis die einzige Musikrichtung ist wo der Opa und der Enkel auf die gleichen Konzerte gehen :D

Amazing! Thanks for the link, I had to fiddle around with the nginx_internal.conf because the first guy put a lot of different ports in and later another guy who created a patch put the map inte location instead of http but once I understood how map works I could fix it and now I can subscribe to /kbin instances, wohoo! Thanks again for you help!
At university the by far coolest and most fun course was compiler construction. We had to write something which would compile a small subset of Java (Javalette) into the Java Virtual Machine instruction set.
I wrote my compiler in Haskell because it seemed that it’d be much less hassle compared to do it in a object oriented or procedual language.
I’m subscribed to !programmer_humor and !programmerhumor and you often cross post to both of them at the same time. Could I ask you to use the build in cross-posting functionality in lemmy so it only shows up once in my list? Otherwise I’ll need to unsubscribe from one.
I humbly seek to clarify my previous discourse with utmost humility. It was never my intention to scold or reprimand your esteemed self. Rather, my aim was to enlighten and educate about a newly introduced functionality.
I apologize if my words conveyed any unintended offense. My genuine desire was to share the merits of the built-in cross-posting feature within our community. This functionality can streamline content distribution and minimize redundancy, enhancing the experience for all users.
I kindly request your understanding and forgiveness. My intent was to foster knowledge and progress, not to criticize. Please perceive my intentions with a charitable eye, as I hold no animosity and solely aspire to promote camaraderie and enlightenment.
The moon rotates once per revolution around the Earth, but that's not a coincidence. Somehow the rotation and revolution are connected to each other. Some force is keeping them the same. How exactly does that work?
It’s not some force keeping them the same, it’s no force changes the speed of the moon. From my limited understanding the moon was created when a smaller planet crashed into the earth:
They both got the same momentum, therefor they started rotating at the same speed, once per day.
There is nothing out there which would be able to change the speed of the rotation of the moon. There is also nothing which would change the speed of the rotation of the earth. Therefor they keep spinning at the same speed.
