Closing out #TDoV with a personal post about how important visibility has been to my transition and how I strive to be visible for others.

I would not be where I am in my transition and in my life if it were not for the visible examples of so many of my trans siblings … whether it is seeing trans actors such as Laverne Cox on the screen, following trans people on (at first) Twitter and then here or meeting each other in person, all were necessary reassurances that I was not unique and alone.

Whatever I knew of transgender people before my egg cracked, was 90% hypothetical. Transgender people existed (in theory) but I never had (knowingly) met a trans person. All my suppressed questions and issues with gender felt wrong or abnormal and something only I was facing.

I was ready to buy some cute shoes right before the sale ended at midnight last night and I resisted the temptation. They were cute and all but did I need them? (and would they fit?!?) So I refrained and went to sleep.

But the devil works in mysterious ways as well, my friends, and the sale magically is extended through the weekend. Well played, shoe satan, well played.

A #pride chronology in three parts:

2022 - looked on from a distance, only just had come out to myself and my partner a month before. Had no local friends and too timid to do anything.

2023 - Went to the #TransMarch with a couple online friends I met IRL for the first time and met some more locals there. Walked with the crowd and felt the shared experience but still unsure. Went to the Pride Parade as well. Fun experience.

2024 - Looking at prices of torches and pitchforks. Fuck the patriarchy!
