@sam is starting a bike repair business in Smyrna, GA serving the Atlanta metro area. My wife just went on a 25 mile ride on her 15 year old Jamis road bike after Sam tuned it up and replaced the drive train. She said it road like new!

Great knowledge, superior workmanship, friendly service, and fair prices. I cannot give a higher recommendation.

The Fedi community is large, but sparse. I’d really appreciate boosts so that cyclists near me have the best chance to see this.

There are only ~40 million Black people in the US. Population similar to Lagos state in Nigeria (the tiny red part).

There are ~250 million US white folk (~220 non-Hispanic white + ~30 million Hispanic white).

So Biden's "missing" 10% of Black men, is fewer than 2 million. Or less than 1% of white US population.🤡

White voters don't face the massive systemic voter suppression that Black voters do. So increasing white dem turnout is much easier.

So if your boy doesn't win, blame yourselves.

@mekkaokereke and specifically, as to CJ - my focus is on local lawmakers, judges, and prosecutors.
Anyone who looks at our CJ objectively and doesn’t see that massive change is necessary to level the playing field for poor people and specifically for poor brown people is either ignorant, or has some vested interest in the status quo.

@mekkaokereke I expect everyone to vote for what they believe is best for them, their family, their community, and their country. The truly great and selfless put the latter before the former.
Sometimes it comes down to different priorities. Sometimes it comes down to different “facts”. All one can do is engage in thoughtful and respectful dialogue and hope that others can at least get the “facts" right.
This is true whether I’m talking to extended family, ppl who look like me, or black ppl.

My personal strategy is to support progressive candidates down ballot. (The President won’t take my calls). By creating a more progressive Democratic Caucus, put pressure on the executive to be more progressive.
I support with time and some $.
I also work for my county as a poll worker
Track record of pushing effectively for change is my top criteria for candidates tie - breaks go to the more marginalized

I updated my profile pic yesterday and gave credit in my bio, but thought I’d mention here as well - this pixelated avatar is from the fine folks at @Iconfactory. It was a bonus perk for contributing to #ProjectTapestry. I’m very pleased with how it turned out, especially considering the subject matter they had to work with. Our daughter and son-in-law are moving. As they were cleaning out their shed they were greeted by a two foot long copperhead.

Our daughter moved a storage tote and there it was. It struck out and luckily it hit the tote.

She, her hubby, and children are all fine.

@gedeonm I’ve done that enough that I’ve had practice sessions in the driveway and I still screw it up if it’s been a while since I’ve been to the car wash.
It’s more than non discoverable, it’s counter intuitive.

I’m no Kickstarter expert, but as a silk supporter of I’d offer this advice to the @Iconfactory folk: Create a $50 or $75 addon that gets you into an early access testflight, and more frequent (weekly?) testflight builds when you get into the thick of development and you’ll get more $ from me, and probably many like me.

Their potential newapp will only get built if the Kickstarter gets funded. Currently at 44% of 100k. It’d be great if they hit 50% of their goal today, on day 1!

My question is who is the next president should the following all occur.

Trump appears on enough ballots and wins sufficient Electoral College votes to be the next President.
It is decided (by whoever needs to decide) that he did engage in an insurrection
Congress fails to remove the disability

@evacide You often rail against stalkerware and other technical issues that face people in, or escaping from, abusive relationships.I’d love to help on a local level (Atlanta, GA area). I’m very technical, but I have no specific training in this area.
I wonder if you have any specific recommendations on how to beef up my skill in this area and then connect with an organization focusing on this problem where I can volunteer and put these skills to use.

@ivory I think bookmarks deserve another look by you, particularly on iPad & Mac where there’s more room, but even iPhone bookmarks could use some love.
I use the heck out of bookmarks (favs are for them, bookmarks for me) and I’d love to see a dedicated icon at the bottom of toots.

Also, I saw a boost of a toot I’d seen a while ago, which showed my previous fav. I went to bookmark it and it removed my previous bookmark - I shouldn’t be surprised by an action.

Any iOS widget people who can point me to articles / resources or just offer help directly?

I specifically want a widget that allows me to toggle the setting for “Silence Unknown Calls.”

If toggling is too hard, separate widgets to turn on and off.

I am not afraid to use AppleScript or whatever to accomplish this.

@ivory I love the alt button when viewing media full screen that has an alt description, and of course Talbots handled multiple media files attached to a toot perfectly.

My feature request: give me a setting to automatically show alt descriptions by default when viewing media.

Wish @ivory handled timeline position better.
Last night I caught up on my iPad. This morning I opened my phone to my mentions and read those. Then posted (still on mentions tab). When I went to my home timeline it was at the post last read on my phone - it hadn’t synced to last read from iPad.
Syncing is hard. I get it. Many, many edge cases.
I’d love it if tapping the top of the screen toggled between 3 spots

new profile pic! I commissioned @andycarolan on Ko-fi, https://ko-fi.com/andycarolan to do some profile pics for me. They turned out great! I am so pleased I did it. He has a smooth process for doing commission work. He doesn’t always have slots available, but he opens them from time to time.

@ivory when I pick up a device I haven’t used in a day or so* it takes 20 secs to a min to refresh pull all new posts. Then it syncs my timeline to my last read position(LRP)✅ but if I interact in certain ways, I can update my LRP unintentionally and I get stuck at 340 unread posts instead of at 78 which is where it was b4 reset.

  • I use an iPad, an iPhone, and a Mac, happens most often on iPad but I think that has more to do with my usage pattern than the version of Ivory
