To be honest I want to make curtains. Lace things.

(I am not a girl.) In prior centuries, girls would work on their trousseaus and hope chests that they would bring with them to their married life.
My trousseau is meant for me.
There isn't much (good) info online about what was in the trousseau EXACTLY. Like a detailed list.

I have had an urge to knit/crochet curtains.

I have Christine Duchrow patterns and Herbert Niebling patterns for knit lace tablecloths, doilies, and the like. I collect his books. Never once knit one of his patterns. No time to translate.
The problem is they're in German. And they use an old chart scheme that is extremely hard to read.
It certainly is no 'tv knitting'. Its 'turn on your brightest light, put in lifelines, count your stitches twice and mark your place on the chart carefully' knitting.

The Duchrow patterns are available from Lacis in more readable books.
The Lyra (tablecloth) seems to be his most popular design on Ravelry. I'm trying not to use images that belong to people.

IDK why I want to knit/crochet tablecloths. I'm not going to have children in the house, so no juice spills. No people spilling wine on the cloth either.

Handmade tablecloths seem to be a relic of past ages. 🤔

Perhaps I'm feeling that fiber arts folks would understand? Many non fiber arts ppl say you can just buy curtains for $14.99. Or a plastic tablecloth for $3.99.

I suppose you know the feeling of making something that utterly confuses non-fiber arts folk. They ask "Why are you bothering to make that? It took you dozens of hours? AND you have to take care of it???"

Tho I've met more non-fiber arts people that understand lately. Interesting.

@biblioscholar @fiberarts Yep, I am. I'm also part of the Ravelry Herbert Niebling knitalong group.

I buy his pattern packets when I can, and check them off on ravelry so I know which ones I have. I've purchased translated versions from doilyhead too, but again, they require too much concentration as of present.

If someone vomited on my handmade curtains I would faint and probably be on my deathbed. 😫

Feeling a bit unsure if the stitch with LC is supposed to look a bit stretched out the way it does?

The mind can be cruel.

I have been struggling trying to keep my 4c hair (scalp) moisturized. My twists act like a sponge and soak it up. (My mum uses the oil.) 😭

I cant find my Blue Magic which seals my scalp. Last night I dreamed I found my jar. It was a vivid dream. I woke up so upset and with my scalp so dry. 😫

It's a full jar I ain't buying another one! I WILL find it. I guess I'll get by with oil and water today since its hot...

I am trying as an experiment how long I can get my 4c hair without turning to getting locs. (I'm not super attached to my hair though.)

I stopped getting relaxers in my mid teens. Same with the flat iron.

I'm learning a lot about 4c hair on my own. 🤔 (Hair blogs and vlogs don't have the info I actually need.)

Anyone else growing out their natural hair, especially if it's in the 4 category, especially 4c?

A man picks up a random usb he sees a stranger leave on the train. He INSERTS IT INTO HIS COMPUTER. 😱
That was scarier than the snuff livestream he found on it, IMO.

I'm just hypervigilant about root kits being everywhere. You might as well throw the entire computer away. 😭

Other people: Someone might have put poison in that sandwich on the ground!

Work From Home would be amazing for me!

I suffer from mysterious list of ailments that doctors (and psychiatrists!) Have basically given up on and are now throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what fixes it.

Having the power to eat when I can, lie down when a migraine hits, or change the brightness and airflow in a quiet room would be AMAZING. And that's not to mention the benefits to the and .

I work best at night anyways. (It is something a lot of ADHD people say.)

When you're at the bottom rungs of a career ladder (or just a job ladder), you're expected to be 'burning the candle at both ends', 'running your fingers to the bone', going above and beyond, running this way and that,
All while deftly managing office politics.

A lot of the stuff in IT can be done at HOME. Especially when you're .
I purposely chose a path that wouldnt be heavy on customer interaction and climbing through walls connecting cables. 😒

I'm too fat and while I'm flexible... I ain't fitting between a concrete and drywall to thread some cables a few 100 feet.
(Hips too wide. Plus bad hip.)

Work From Home just makes SENSE in the IT and Software engineering fields (if you require it as an employee.)

Disabled folk are often left out of the work from home debate. 😒 I have enough voices in my head. I dont need to hear people 5 offices down shooting the breeze while im trying to concentrate.

@BlackAzizAnansi well I mean I was deleting my accounts on Bird site anyways, and on my art account deleting all my tweets. Have a python script to delete my tweets and everything. (Some sites put a limit on the amount of deletion you can do.)

My concern is I dont want Bird Site servers to retain a copy of my tweets and personal info. I want ALL my data erased from their servers, not just what's convenient for him.

The problem is impersonation of people will get worse. 😑

Artists, streamers, game studios and small businesses squat on screen names on different social media so that they don't get impersonated, have their reputations smeared and so customers/fans dont get scammed.

Like a month ago, I was talking about the trend of people getting "dumb phones" because they were tired of being attached to social media.
I was very confused and frustrated because there are settings on the phone where you can turn off alerts and the like. Customization.

The Amish appear to have a good approach to technology. Yes they have modern tech. Yes they still dress like its the 1800s. They just don't let it control their lives.

Like the Mennonite designer specifically made the choice to have USB peripherals to their computers, but to make it incompatible with Windows! I believed the man worked with MIT to design this very culturally customized computer.

This is wild and interesting!
It has CAD software on it but also a Bible reader and search engine!? (Not internet connected.)

We need tools to get to the point where they can replace Adobe tools. Open alternatives are great, but they are sadly not there yet to replace Adobe tools for professionals.

And won't be unless projects like @inkscape get enough funding to develop to a point of being viable alternatives.

I am always on the lookout for good open source art programs. Medibang Paint has been pretty decent for my samsung tablet (Free). Clip Studio Paint has a $5 sub on mobile. It has been ok.

Its harder to find decent FOSS art programs. Blender3d is what I learned on, and is in many ways better than Maya. GIMP/Glimpse UI is still wonky.

But unfortunately, as long as companies think Adobe is the standard, they'll keep forcing artists to use it.

First, they have enough evidence to arrest this murderous suspect. Video, autopsy report, witnesses. But they let the murder suspect go. 🤨 ⬜ I wonder why.

The NY mayor (Adams?) Is using this as a talking point to commit homeless folk that look mentally ill.
Have voluntarily been to a mental facility. I am doing my utmost to avoid a repeat it was that bad.

Not all homeless are dangerous. They need actual services, not incarceration.

Oh. Clarification note. I know a few legal folks; family and friends. It is important to me to call them suspects because legally that is what they are known as, until pronounced guilty. But this (should be) an open and shut case. We all know what the murder suspect did.
