I'm at about 80% of the "Flow Metrics for Scrum Teams" book by Daniel Vacanti and Will Seele, and although I can agree with the shortcomings of Fibonacci-based storypoint velocity calculation, the alternative of Monte Carlo Simulation based probabilistic prediction doesn't seem to be practically viable either. Does anyone have actual exerperience applying this?

Meta is adding phone home functionality to so it can add an chatbot. What could possibly go wrong?

Remember Cambridge Analytica. Stop using products. Just switch to @signalapp . Most people have done so already and are only forced to keep WhatsApp for the stragglers.

After 3,5 years of working with I'm back with and one thing I'm enjoying is the uniformity of how to configure Maven. With Gradle, it seems there are several ways of doing the same thing, and they don't all work when combined.

For a hackathon this weekend, we built a small application in , and that uses to detect if you're about to upload something you might want to reconsider, and then allows stripping Exif metadata for privacy.

We also looked at distorting the image to make it unusable for training an . In one day we could just garble the image beyond human recognition, but a better option would be integrating to distort it for AI yet not for the human eye.

Just saw this on my LinkedIn public feed listed as a requirement for a job: “High intensity and stress tolerance”

Any normal CEO might questions themselves if their company is posting job ads like that. But many would see it is a badge of honour.

Ever wondered why Design Patterns didn't take off? Did you ever wonder how they became so all-pervasive but also so empty and soulless? Those were the sparking thoughts behind this book. It's taken four years of research and way too much of my spare time. Go check out Unresolved Forces: https://www.unresolvedforces.com/

@fabs
Tbh I used to wonder why Design Patterns did take off. I studied it as part of a college traineeship at the turn of the century and felt some lacked heuristics for any kind of real problemsolving.

I think that's why your chapter on criteria for patterns chymes well with my experience. You have an empirical approach to your writing style that I recall I missed in the GoF book.

It's food for thought that indicate that the new feature to opt-out of sharing your content with third parties, notably AI partners, is automatically turned on (so opt-out by default) if you've indicated you don't want search engines to crawl your content.

https://wordpress.com/blog/2024/02/27/more-control-over-the-content-you-share/

That sounds fair, until you consider that the need to have people find your content is opposite to having someone steal your content to generate competing content. Feeding is not .

I've worked at some pretty big companies and at every one I've encountered decisionmakers who will say "we don't need to gather data on this. If other company X does it, the data is probably solid" just to dodge the hassle of defining and measuring actual value, and consequently copying each other's ineffective .
