I impulse bought this yarn on the way to the game night at my friends' house, because I knew that I was going to finish the scarf and couldn't bear the thought of spending part of the time without something to fiddle with.

I am absolutely loving how it's sort of turning into a plaid pattern.

This morning, when I arrived to set up for this conference, I stopped in at the hotel front desk, first (in case it would be quicker to park there and cart my stuff to the event center).

As I walked in, there was a lady standing out in the snow with a tiny fluffy black dog (in tiny boots) on a leash.

As I walked out, the lady was trying to get this smol dog back inside, and it didn't seem to want to, as it then flopped down in the snow and made her drag it in like a little mop or something.

Today is the anniversary of the tragic #MolassesFlood of 1919.

A giant (50ft tall by 90ft across) storage silo burst due to shoddy construction and over-filling, sending a 25ft tsunami of boiling hot molasses crashing at 35mph through an area of Boston, sweeping up people and buildings and cars and horses and sections of elevated railway... and leaving in its wake a waist-deep slurry of death and destruction across a several block area.

I went for a walk! :D

It was the first time in... I'd say at least two years that I got to wear the giant scarf I knit nearly 20 years ago! (Knit in the round, so it's double-thick, and about 10 feet long.)

I probably could have gone with one less layer, though, because I was overheated before I got to the end of the block.

My old passport (from 2014) was returned, and before I stored it away, I pulled out my first passport (from 1999), grabbed my new one, and laid them all side-by-side.

It was weird to watch myself age 25 years over the space of several inches...

But, also, I'm SUPER glad that the new passports are way less 'MURKA FUCK YEAH! than those from the earlier decades of the 21st century. That fucking eagle over the unfurled flag was just too much.

I finally got the #xmas tree up, yesterday, and decorated, today.

My secret confession is that I only decorated the front half.

I have so many #StarTrek and #StarWars ships and ornaments that I wanted to put up, but I just didn't have the spoons.

Some things to note: Pickles my AT-AT, hanging out under the tree, the salt vampire (played by my good friend, Sandy) attacking Captain Kirk, and the (felt) #Moopsy from Lower Decks.
