@cjerrington I don't see a point in adding one myself as I'm too volatile to chasing numbers, but let me think what I'd add...

total word count, minutes needed to read all posts, longest article, shortest article, most active month, any variation of the above split into time chunks (e.g. last 6 months?)

And I'm not sure if you run analytics but I've seen a few blogs making their traffic stats public.

I wish I could build an aggregator for photoblogs so that I can view pretty photos of people I like.

The pool of text-based blogs is somewhat small, but there's still plenty to choose from. And if people don't self-host, they tend to use semi-competent platforms that make things easy.

But when it comes to photography, people are scattered across various instagrams, flickrs and stuff and that complicates things A LOT, both in technical and cultural aspect.

I made a point to always include some sort of descriptions alongside my photos on social media (except some sufficiently self-explanatory categories, such as random snapshots or street photography) and now I think I need a photography blog.

And they completely distracted me from the whole point: I pulled the trigger and started paying for it as another spot in my matrix of photography backups.

I'm actually glad this site still exists in more-or-less unchanged form since the last time I used it back in early 2010s. The period of it being owned by Yahoo feels like a bad dream I woke up from.

I just hope they don't engage in some "AI" bullshittery at some point. Pretty please, with a cherry on top.

Dear lazyfedi,

Does any of you use a NAS? Do you like it? Not like it? Anything I should know while being on the market?

I already have two twin SSDs, could get a third one maybe, but I have no idea what device I should pick and how much I should pay for it.

And I'm not entirely excited about getting another computer so I want it to be boring and durable. Anything else is nice-to-have.

I like the web monetisation proposal being brought forward by @ppk:

  • Beloved sites get sold and dropped or "eaten by AI", and the reason is money.
  • For those willing, a trickling micro payment stream could send a few cents every few seconds from a reader's wallet to that of a website owner.
  • The readers would control their max rate and max outlay per month, for example.
  • The readers could block certain sites/domains from receiving money.
  • There are still lots of open questions!

I'm pretty sure I read about a very similar approach in some book many years ago, but I can't recall whose book it was any more. Not that the book would add anything to the conversation, it's just my brain refusing to stop noticing and examining patterns in the world ๐Ÿ˜„

Do you have any favorite no-copyright music playlist or artist? Will you share it with me?

Preferably electronic without vocals (vocalization OK) + a little more energetic than lo-fi.

I'm looking for music to use with my travel video and I'd love to use something less known. I always end up on the same usual suspects like NCS / Epidemic Sound / Monstercat and I can recognize them without looking. I want to break the bubble.
