Hätte jetzt nicht erwartet, dass die Frage "was ist der Default-Browser" unter Linux jetzt erst mal mehrere tausend Zeilen Shellscripte offenbart, die .desktop-Files auswerten, aber andererseits bin ich auch nicht unbedingt besonders überrascht.

Hmmm, komische Gespinnste an der Promenade in #Warnemünde - nicht, dass das Eichenprozessionsspinner sind @HROrathaus, ungefähr bei Strandweg 3.

Oder vielleicht kann das ja jemand von #followerpower als was harmloses identifizieren?

@ij ich würde eher auf die Gespinstmotte tippen. Die ist eigentlich harmlos.
Die Eichenprozessionsspinner gehen, wie ihr Name sagt, eigentlich nur auf Eichen. Und das scheint, so weit ich sehen kann, ein Strauch zu sein.

    Hatte von euch schon mal jemand das Problem, dass beim Mesh der Fritz!Box hinter den Repeatern kein IPv6 funktioniert? An der Fritz!Box selbst geht es ohne Probleme und ich bin scheins gerade zu doof zum googeln.
    Die Repeater laufen bei mir übrigens alle als AP, sind also per Cat7 oder Coax an der Fritz!Box, nicht per WLAN. Und sie zeigen in ihrer Oberfläche auch eine IPv6 an und sind per IPv6 pingbar.

    Sitze auf dem Sofa, brummelt das Handy, auf dem Display "Einloggen beim Mailanbieter nicht möglich. Überprüfen Sie ihre Zugangsdaten." und ich denke mir "Hä? Ich habe die Daten doch hinterlegt. Wieso sollte die nicht mehr ... oh scheiße!"

    @2ndStar würde sagen, es kommt drauf an ob die Gegenstelle Cat8 wert. Die bereits ausgemusterten Cat5 sind ja im Zweifel auch ein Statement.

    Ich bin auf dem Heimweg zwischenzeitlich durch echt dichten Nebel gefahren und dabei ist mir wieder aufgefallen, wie viele Autofahrende einfach ihr Tagfahrlicht anmachen und denken das reicht und dabei komplett übersehen, dass dann hinten oft keine Leuchten an sind. Sie bei Nebel oder Regen deshalb für Nachfolgende ziemlich unsichtbar sind.
    Macht euer scheiß Abblendlicht an, das kann doch nicht so schwer sein!

    @FrauMaja ich glaube das ist zu einem nicht kleinen Teil der vielen Automatisierung in modernen Autos geschuldet. Das Tagfahrlicht ist immer an wenn kein anderes Licht an ist. Und der Lichtschalter steht immer auf Auto. Nicht wenige Autofahrer haben vermutlich schon komplett vergessen, dass es den überhaupt gibt. Denn egal ob Tunnel, Nacht, oder Regen, das Licht geht ja von alleine an. Dass ein Helligkeitssensor keinen Nebel erkennen kann steht zwar in der Anleitung, aber wer liest die schon…

    @heiseonline wenn wir mehr Glück als Verstand haben, dann erhöht es die Albedo der Erde ein wenig. 🤞
    Andererseits, sollte den tatsächlich so sein wird das dann sicherlich demnächst als Ausrede genutzt um noch weniger gegen den Untergang und für das Überleben der Menschheit zu tun.

    So, what’s your current go-to & stack? Thinking of doing black, isort, mypy, pytest, but open for suggestions.

    My main project currently uses flake8 instead of black, with flake8-quotes to enforce double quotes, but this breaks in Python 3.12 because of nested quotes in f-strings: https://github.com/zheller/flake8-quotes/issues/117

    so, firefox doesn't seem to record when you try to visit a URL but it results in an error (Chrome does seem to record as part of your history) -- does anyone know why doesn't?

    @shortridge my suspicion is that they are not recorded to avoid cluttering autocompletion with typos. But sadly I don't know either.

    @melroy @lauteshirn for me, weight of the phone is one of the least interesting issues. I think most phones would be easier to hold of they where heavier and less thin. I fear the market got itself into a stupid corner that unnecessarily increases production cost and gives us worse products (like, battery life is also affected by this). But yeah, capitalism…
    And what makes modern phones clunky for me is the giant screen that prevents the device from being used single handedly.

    @melroy @lauteshirn in my compactlegacy phone security support is running out, the battery is blowing up, and I don't have the time to roll my own Custom ROM. This, keeping the old device is sadly not an option either. For me the true feature of the FP is not having to think about a new device for a long time.

    @lauteshirn @melroy the best is a very fuzzy concept and different people will have different opinions on what is the best tradeoff. Will I feel a lot of benefit from a faster CPU or a better camera? No, even my legacy phone already has so much performance in am my use cases that I won't notice and the camera quality exceeds my photography skill. But having even being able to go just one more year with peace of mind about not having to get a new phone, that's a benefit I feel.

    @lauteshirn @melroy equally, somehow it has been decided that thinner is better. But for me that makes it hard to get a proper grip of these phones (I actually have to use different phones in addition to my private one from time to time). Thus, I get extra thick bumpers to be able to hold these.

    And for me weight also is less if an issue. Something that's too light is tricky to hold steady. And if I call someone I'll usually use headphones anyhow. For sure if it is longer than two sentences.

    @melroy @lauteshirn if I made the impression that I prefer the FP4 over the FP5 then this was not my intend as it's simply not true. What I intended to state is that I would have strongly preferred a hypothetical downsized FP4 Compact over an upgrade that the FP5 is.
