    It's been a few years since I last had a working one, but large numbers of cheap ships with missiles for early/mid-game for me, and then pretty much whatever that hits heavy in the first round for the late game.

    I like building dreadnoughts with stellar converters too, but again, by that point in the game it isn't really a hard challenge, just stomping over the remaining threats.

    I wonder what major Swedish dirty deals with Gulf fossil fuel countries are now at risk because of the calls for an economic boycott over Koran burnings.

    The Swedish centre-right government is dependent on an islamophobic party to stay in power, but Moderaterna has historically always really cared most about the interests of Swedish big business.

    I suspect they'll choose power over business, but this keeps eroding their claim to economic competence.

    It seems to me that the current right wing economic policies are not geared towards thriving industry, but aims towards landed gentry with serfs that you can abuse however you want because the alternatives are even worse for them.

    @nlovsund A somewhat related sidetrack here is how struck I'm with the extreme focus on Roman stuff in popular history. As far as I can see mostly because that's the first place we have lots of preserved writing from, especially personal writing.

    @apps I think I might have seen this when hitting back to my main feed while a thread was loading (shortly after opening it, going "nah, not that interested" while it was still loading), but I haven't seen any strong repeatability so I haven't reported it.

    What was the first distribution you installed / attempted to install?

    For me - a Debian user - it was gentoo, around 2003, which was a mistake.

    Slackware from a stack of floppies in 93-94ish. Moved to Debian when I had access to a modern computer with a CD reader.

    Currently mostly running Ubuntu (since hoary) for commonality with work, but looking to switch back to Debian for desktop use at least due to snap.

    @Loukas I'm also a paper member of my union etc.

    Most of my active time goes to the Academic Computer Club in Umeå, with the two-fold mission of being a place where students and staff at the university can improve their IT skills in a learning by doing environment as well as showing that you can run large internet community services non-commercially and self-hosted.

    Also a bit of time to the university staff sports club, chair of board and orienteering section. Sadly short on time there.

    @Loukas Some of the public services we run is the free software etc mirror: mirror.accum.se/ftp.acc.umu.se, a set of irc and mastodon servers, hosting some project infra for OSM, Debian, LineageOS, etc.

    For members there's mail, web, git, linux shell machines, and a computer lab on campus with (often) working printers.

    It's where I learned to sysadmin, and it has been a useful source of sysadmins for work as well.

    Flyger man tillräckligt mycket i jobbet sätter man sig helst inte i ett flygplan på semestern, men det är nog en kontraproduktiv strategi.

    Annars ser jag inte så mycket alternativ till flyg, är nog mer produktivt att arbeta för att avveckla fossila marktransporter och kolkraftverk för att få lite större utväxling på ansträngningarna.

    Min poäng är att det är osannolikt att få någon större utväxling av personlig agitation mot personflyg. Det kommer inte att ske några kraftfulla politiska beslut pga turism och arbetsresor, och som vi ser i trådstarten är det en liten minoritet som frivilligt väljer bort semesterrsorna.

    Att lägga ner inhemsk bensinförsäljning på 10-20 år efter en snabb nedgång i volym är däremot helt görbart om vi kan uppvigla lite politisk vilja.

    @nlovsund Sounds familiar from my last long bike trip (170km over 8h). Details different, but I wasn't as knocked out as I had imagined I'd be from going almost twice as far as I had previously.

    Walking (and sitting) was a challenge the following two days though.

    It still takes a while before Meta(P92) joins the Fediverse and the recent times we have read a lot of things from both sides

    Polls are not super reliable but maybe it will give a better overall picture of what you, the people using these platforms want

    The result will not be the definite outcome for us but I do take it into heavy consider because I love you all very much!
