@reesecommabill you're being generous. Bay FC is a trash name. At least make it "Bay City" and reference Altered Carbon or something. The font is nice, but Bay FC is so dry and bland. It's like they couldn't decide and then just decided, "Eh, the team name doesn't really matter, pick the basic one".
Oakland Soul remains #1 bay area team.

Facebook REALLY wants me to go to this Star Wars-themed burlesque show. Been promoting it nonstop whenever I log onto my timeline to see which of my friends from high school have either had babies or died.

Don't get me wrong, if my best friend showed up at my house right now and said, "Come with me to Star Wars Burlesque, drinks on me." I would 100% go. But am I going to go out of my way… not these days…

I haven’t looked at the protocol documents so apologies if this is an oversimplification.

Bluesky’s vision seems to be Mastodon with customizable feed algorithms. Given that why isn’t it just a fork or set of contributions to Mastodon?

What technical reason made this not the obvious choice?

  1. They didn't know about ActivityPub when they started
  2. ActivityPub wasn't web3 enough
  3. Technical reasons did make it the obvious choice and it was business reasons that made it not the choice

@bobwyman @carnage4life possibly. They also renamed their existing ADX to be the AT Protocol, a name already used by an existing protocol, so the track record of "knowing about prior art" isn't great from this crew.

If the debt limit isn't raised, the President will have to decide which laws to violate and will thus have the equivalent of a line-item veto (But SCOTUS says that's unconstitutional). Should he violate laws that require spending money or the law that sets the debt limit? Even if we say that newer law supersedes older law, the current debt limit was set in Dec, 2021, thus, any authorizations since then wouldn't be superseded.

Why do we assume that the debt limit law is superior to other laws?
