Aha - tools for the win. Wondered to myself, can I export an out of ?

A quick Duck Search tells me yes, there's a plugin called which will do it!

You convert an object to a greasePencil object then export that as an SVG. Nice.

mid_kid,
@mid_kid@fosstodon.org avatar

@ottaross I think these days it should, but I haven't tried yet.

Back when it didn't have native svg import, I used https://github.com/badgeek/svg2shenzhen to great success. So maybe try that or the Gingerbread project linked in the README if native import fails.

question; what is the best way to share a small improvement on an ebuild in the Guru repo? Asking to become a contributor sounds like overkill, with getting PGP working and all.

Would it be best to just create my own repo and add it to the list so it can be discovered?

@gentoo

(The improvement is making iio-sensor-proxy work on openRC by implementing a fix I found on the forums. Not that impressive, though now my Chromebook runs perfectly :))

@oddly pull requests work, but it's not difficult to just ask for commit access either.

How many authors have their contributions in product source code? How many have had their previous work completely removed. Over time.

The first release with code present authored by 200 persons was done in 2015-04-22. In that release, we had already removed all traces of contributions from 20 authors.

In the latest release, 604 authors' code is still present. 171 authors' work have been replaced.

mid_kid,
@mid_kid@fosstodon.org avatar

@bagder I think it's interesting that only 1/5th of the authors had their work fully replaced. I wonder how many of those are drive-by oneliner commits.

Made a rambly 30+ minute video with shaky webcam footage documenting my final moments of 3DS online tonight.

It's currently published on YouTube, trying to setup a PeerTube account so maybe I can post more stuff like this on the fediverse in the future. I'll link that in a reply if and when it happens.

@rootcompute Since you were suprised that the only thing they shut off directly were the login servers, here's a quip from many a moon ago when they shut down the original xbox live.

I can't give a technical explanation, other than that there probably isn't a killswitch for everything, and they'll just start slowly dismantling the servers (or letting them run forever unattended until they die for other reasons).

Managed to get an Articuno from the GTS as well. This concludes filling the national dex, sans a few events. I'm lacking Mew and (apparently) Diancie.

I have some 20th anniversary events I can trade for those, so if anyone is up for trading, I'd love it.

(Sorry @rootcompute if you had that articuno for me...)

@bagder I really consider this xz situation a testament to the resilience of the open source community, and distros in particular. The damage did happen, but it was discovered rather quickly, despite how ridiculously sophisticated the attacker was, and the fallout was really contained to just "run an update asap". It didn't even land in most systems thanks to the stabilization process.

mid_kid,

@martijnbraam Have you considered a dedicated chip? That sounds relatively niche.
Though maybe someone has emulated it using the raspberry pi pico's PIO peripheral.

I've been posting my generic custom kernel for a few years now because there weren't any readily available. I've always based it on the kernel with a few modifications.

I didn't realize it immediately but now that Gentoo has a distribution kernel, the configuration is also based on the Fedora one. I guess when things work there's no point in doing things differently.

@postmarketOS This is a reasonable decision, but as a firm believer in init freedom it's always a shame to see yet another bastion of support for generic, retargetable solutions crumble under the pressure of keeping up with systemd-specific features replacing the existing mechanisms.
It always helps in convincing desktop environment maintainers that it's worth supporting more than just systemd...

@bsmaalders @jacqueline fun or simply preference are not "legitimate" reasons? When did everyone get so serious all the time?

mid_kid,
@mid_kid@fosstodon.org avatar

@deshipu @jacqueline Both. There's a lot of things that are just hard for a compiler to optimize, that a human can help with. Sometimes this leads to "worse" code or compiler-specific tricks. A compiler can't reason on semantics and know what the programmer intended.

Out of the several hundred persons who saw my two talks during the weekend. One(!) has provided feedback using the site. On the bad mike/speaker setup.

My point is mostly to fellow speakers: don't assume people will use that system to say anything. Good or bad.,

I had maybe 20 people tell me to my face they liked one or both of my talks. A better feedback channel!

@bagder I've been visiting fosdem since... checks tshirt, 2015, and I've honestly never noticed the button, I had to CTRL+F to even see it...
But on the other hand, I'm happy enough knowing that most people just find it hard to show appreciation, and just silently enjoy it.
