I stay up late just to watch Inside The NBA guys goof around and talk about the games. Bummed next season is likely their last 😔

Also hate the idea of having to watch games on Prime Video (no pause or rewind, no idea how to record, not all games immediately posted when finished, etc.)

@Defiance the same folks who correctly called weeks ago that TNT would lose the are also predicting that Inside will go with the streaming package. Supposedly Ernie could retire and Shaq is 50/50 but they seem to think at least Charles and Kenny are a lock 🤷

@caravan @Defiance no preference in this series. I like both of these teams a lot. Overall I want anyone but the Celtics, but I don't even hate the Celtics, I just think it's a little funnier if they keep losing. But it's set up to be a replay of when they lost to the Warriors, but with the Celtics switching roles: they get lucky with the bracket breaking in their favor with easy matchups, and their finals opponent comes in gassed from four hard rounds. Plus they get zinger back.

@caravan @Defiance Indiana upsetting the Celtics would be hilarious but would make for a shitty finals so I guess I hope that series goes at least 6 to stretch it out but Boston wins

I guess maybe I'm slightly rooting for the wolves bc I feel like after that Denver series they should win for some reason, and because it's so fucking weird that KAT and Rudy are good now, and I like watching Ant even when he's wiped from chasing Kyrie around screens.

Did I heard this right? NBC, Amazon and ESPN are getting NBA rights for the next 7 years?

I can’t watch TNT games as easily anymore. So good riddance.

It sucks we’re all losing Inside The NBA but oh well. Let Chuck retire already. Give him a farmland closer to his beloved San Antonio.

@jdm2 most of the analysis I've heard from dialed in media guys 1) called this exactly a couple weeks ago, reinforcing their credibility and 2) all agree that the Inside The NBA guys will go with one of the weekly packages. Charles and Kenny def, Ernie if he wants to, Shaq maybe. The 5.1.24 episode of The Town podcast is an example. These guys aren't all idiots it seems

Flora Purim doesn’t have an exceptional voice, but she always surrounded herself with great musicians (both American and Brazilian), and created an interesting unique sound. This is one of her best from 1974. Love the track with Carlos Santana’s screaming guitar solo.

@iamlayer8 he's on a bunch of Bill Laswell produced albums you can find via the Laswell bandcamp page if you're interested, not jazz though, more experimental fusion/funk, still very different from P-Funk

@iamlayer8 laswell is worth your time in general, then. Perhaps start with Hallucination Engine, a great album with Bernie that also features Wayne Shorter and Zakir Hussein among others

@iamlayer8 yeah that's an interesting project too. Laswell is an interesting artist, a great bass player and producer who works in weird niches. He loves deep dub and crazy avant garde weird stuff as much as the fusion funk stuff

Even though I'm not and will never be a software developer, I can't tell you how it has enriched my life with technology to understand and immediately think about developers so constantly, those who made what I encounter every day. When my texts work and when I get a security message and when I notice some feature I have this little ping of empathy & awareness that someone built that. It has un-alienated me from so much technology and I wish more people-who-aren't-developers felt this with me

@godzero @exchgr it's my wife's favorite show, or one of them certainly, we catch reruns fairly often. Both Mulder and Scully get fairly regular infodump monologues that are often actually quite amazing in their own strange ways
