did my first bit of visible mending yesterday, caught my knee on a license plate in a parking lot last week, and now it’s a cute flower :)

Does anybody have insights into why it became so much more common in the past year or so for Xcode to cause keyboard input on the whole Mac to be blocked (including in Xcode!) while stopped in the debugger? I think it has to do with event routing or something but it's infuriating.

@siracusa @danielpunkass my working hypothesis is that it's to do with the particular location of a breakpoint, when I've seen it, but that's all I got. "oh, guess I shouldn't stop there.”

It saddens me how much knowledge is locked away in Discord servers, and will absolutely vanish within 5yrs

@ellie @carbontwelve meanwhile, google is ""helping"" me search by correcting commonly used acronyms to english words, and ASSUMING THEY'RE CORRECT, so who knows if we'll be able to find those forum responses soon, anyway. /shrug

(It was Blaze, just doing a drive-by-cat, after gorging himself on Christmas sardines, the creepy bastard!)

Work gave me, an Android/ Linux/ Chromebook girlie, an iPhone. I literally had to Google how to turn it off. "Intuitive" - I don't think so.

@spydergrrl hah, yeah, the less-used paths (like powering off your device, weirdly), are a bit hidden away! the other anti-pattern is updating your lock-screen, which you can get to by long-pressing it while the device is locked (Sigh).

dear , it has been a LONG day, i'm on 1/2 rations of sleep, had a brain-meds appt, AND I'm perilously close to a deadline. This coding problem has Too Many Words!

hey, fellow nerds... if I wanted to introduce a 7 yo boy to manga (he's a strong reader), any suggestions on what series may be good? He's started watching One Piece, so i was gonna go for that, but figured I'd ask in case there’s something good right now i don't know about! :) (he loves some of the usual suspects, Dog Cop, The Bad Guys, Investigators)

ok, friends... I'm trying to figure out why my key view loop within some swiftUI views (embedded in a hosting view) will generate a correct forward key view loop, but not a backwards one. Anyone fought & slain this bug??

@cferdinandi nope, BUT! a few tips: in the accessibility prefs (sigh), you can turn off the hover preview things, and you can re-turn-on the left list-of-slack column.

@starshaped @cferdinandi big quality-of-life improvement there. I JUST found the checkbox to turn off the gradient which gets things to "you moved my cheese" levels, instead of “you dumped acid on my cheese and gave it blinking lights, while simultaneously hiding it in the basement” levels of frustration.
