If we take the common view that communism died and capitalism is dying, rather than battle between those two ideologies I wonder what could be next that’s neither of those?

Maybe someone will have a cool idea that’s better? That would be pretty cool.

I have many frustrations, but at the top of the list is the refusal of "experts" to demonstrate care and action. Here is a recent photo of a conference of the International Union of Immunological Societies. Notice anything? Crowded room of immunology experts, and not a single one of them in a mask. If these are the people we rely on to keep us safe, we may as well give up.

YouTube really wants to radicalize you.

I just watch guitar, fitness and space science videos there. That's it - and I police my feed and watch history judiciously.

And it still suggests Jordan Peterson, Crypto Tech bros, Joe Rogan, white guys ranting in trucks about immigrants and communists, Koch funded professors, and weird white supremacy guys with caliper mindsets non-stop. I click "Do Not Recommend This Channel" twenty times a day but the stream keeps flowing.

Pet peeve: I don’t like when media outlets do this. CNBC KNOWINGLY messaged a defunct email address at Twitter that they KNOW is programmed to respond with this emoji (and has been for 8 months).

Just email Musk directly for comment. We all have his contact info. It’s such a farce to email a dead email acct you KNOW will return this emoji then act like it’s some sacrilege and write it up in this way.

What I want, as a user,

• is to be able to see, follow and interact with anybody on Facebook's Threads instance
• and for anybody on Threads to see, follow and interact with me

As simple as that. If it doesn't work like that, then it should 🤷‍♂️

@stroughtonsmith If I was an executive in charge of Threads, I would federate temporarily as a way to get started with a baseline of users, and posts from the fediverse. Then I would draw new and existing users away from other servers by having exclusive features and grow the user base. Once Threads has a sufficient user base to make available to advertisers I separate from the fediverse, taking most of the users and draw even more users to Threads.
