Just ran network traffic analysis on a random game and it's sending a constant stream of packets to some / server

Apparently it's quite the PITA for the game developers to disable this, as the Unity managers keep turning it back on somehow, see:

TIL you can block network access to a #game (or any other application) in #Linux:

unshare -n ./game

which requires root access though, so this is required to run it as user:

sudo unshare -n sudo -u <myusername> ./game

I want to make a space game that takes place in a utopia.

But damn, dystopias make for so much better stories.

Do you know any good games where society is not falling apart, and you are not in misery and you must work your way out?

Where the world is as it should be, everybody's taken care of, and you can explore the beauty of the world in a carefree way?

I've implemented cruise control in #OutFly. It autopilot accelerates you at full speed until the oxygen runs out :)

Time for an experiment!

Will point the cursor at Earth, go afk to take a walk, and see where I end up in the game when I return :)

Back from the walk, and still alive on my #space #roadtrip :)

After about 1.5 hours of constant acceleration with 48.9 g (~480m/s²), I got to 0.44% of the speed of light and traveled ~1.600.000km.

Despite the incredible speed, I haven't even gotten past Callisto's orbit. Space is damn big.

Next feature will be cryosleep, to get further without wasting so much time 🚀

And the fuel mechanics... I think I'm going to hold off on that feature for now, who needs limited fuel?

New bus stations in #OutFly, giving you free public transportation to the most scenic destinations around #Jupiter.

Just look for the signature green 3-axis cross of StarTrans Cargo Services, register your trip with the customer service agent drone, activate your spacesuit's CryoFreeze program, and eventually, you will be picked up. Hopefully.

This is hilarious.

I was working on adding shadows to the #OutFly game, but everything was just constantly dark.

After an hour of debugging, turns out that a very large spherical object was blocking the directional light, casting a shadow on everything.

That object was THE SUN...
