Cleaned four fountain pens. Cleaning pens is a very meditative act. I have to disassemble the converter of the Sailor 1911L to relube it with silicone grease. I'll just do that tomorrow when it's dry. Twelve more still inked.

@pixiecata yeah, 6 is about normal for me. Basically a normal text pen and a heading pen; three sets of that, one for my desk and two to carry around

Hey all! I am Abhishek or ambicrush as my handle is. I am an Advocate in India and I like to use as much as I can.
I have a few pens, including the Pilot Prera in F, a Nahvalur Original + in M, a Muji Moma, and some other Indian pens which may not be known to many here. My other interests include Coffee, Music, and Motorbiking.

Post inspired by a question from @faizalr about When I travel I use the Namiki black refills that I keep neatly in this little coin purse. I actually exclusively use black ink! And seeing as I’m using the Pilot e95s the Con-40 will only get me through six pages of my which is hardly a day for me! So I syringe fill an empty Namiki cartridge with Diamine Onyx Black when I’m at home

@Doctortalos i am finishing a Stalogy now but I’m not in love with it, I think I prefer TR and Midori over it. The Stalogy tends to feather with wetter pens

@Doctortalos I don’t think it’s isolated, a lot of Stalogy users have told me the same thing. The subpar behavior is not on every page, it’s on some pages.

Working on a small, handwritten personal prayer book. I got this $10 Jinhao just because I thought it was pretty, but I am shocked at how well it performs. It's a nice weight and it was an easy start. (And it has birds on it! 🐦 ❤️)

PSA: I purchased a notebook at the sfpenshow last year and just cracked it open. The Cosmo Air Light paper is as expected (amazing imho) BUT: there are fingerprint resist areas every now and then - and they’re not my fingerprints, they’re deeply set in, apparently from the manufacturing process. Looks like a failure of quality control.

Emptied four fountain pens (Sailor Pro Gear, Sailor 1911L, Lamy Safari, and Lotus Chibi Saral), but am still too lazy to clean them tonight. Maybe tomorrow. Twelve are still inked.

@OT7RockBison don’t worry too much about maintenance as long as the pen works fine. There’s very few ways to actually break a fountain pen through neglect so there’s not much to worry about.

If the pen starts not writing well that’s when you should do some maintenance.

いま、普段使いにしている万年筆は2本で、#パイロット の #シルバーン Mニブと、#プラチナ の古いシープ細字です。持ちかたのくせで、嵌合式のペンが好きです。どちらもすこし重くて書いていて楽しいです。

I noticed there is a lovely community for fountain pen users, and would like to say hello.
Now I use two fountain pens daily: a M nib and an old Sheep EF nib. I prefer snap cap pens because of my writing style. Both weigh a little bit, which is fun to write with.

    I was thinking of picking up a wooden . I've never owned a wood pen before, any gotchas that I should be aware of? Is maintenance pretty much the same as a plastic/resin pen? I do live in a high humidity climate, should I be concerned about checking and cracking?

    @shorthop what model(s) are you looking at? If the material is properly stabilized/sealed you should not have an issue, but some models are not well-stabilized and may be affected by humidity.

    @shorthop I’ve tried them in the store, but I don’t own one. They feel good in the hand and are solidly made, and my local store manager that I trust says they hold up. I believe the pens come with JoWo #5 or #6 nibs depending on the model.

    @penfount Similar story to @alexa488, but I was in a German class, my Pilot G2 broke and I needed a new pen for class the next day. Went into a REWE supermarket and bought the best pens I could find. The best writer out of the bunch was a fountain pen, the Herlitz my.pen. Of course with any new thing I can’t resist doing a ton of research, so… things escalated from there.
