I've been near Manchester for a few days, so I thought I'd pop in for a bit of sightseeing yesterday.

Let's be real though, this was just an excuse to ride the Metrolink

Despite the similarities (opened 80s/90s, high-floor trams, grade-separated branches and street-running in city centre etc) I was surprised to find that Calgary's CTrain still wipes the floor with Metrolink in terms of ridership

Metrolink: 99 stations, 100km, 36 million annual riders

CTrain: 45 stations, 60km, 85 million riders!!

I was worried that Dune 2 wasn't doing well since the theater I went to wasn't very busy and I hadn't heard as much buzz about it as I expected, but apparently those were just me things because it did better for opening weekend than Oppenheimer 🤯

    @archliberal statewide party list PR is likely better than the current shitshow, but I'd say far from the ideal.

    Probably workable in smaller states but can you imagine the political fragmentation in places like California? Not sure if I'm comfortable with the balance of power in the House being held by 7 different leftist parties and some weirdo tech libertarians...

    I'd prefer STV in 3-5 member districts where states are large enough. Alaska-style in single-seat ones. Primaries? Not sure

    @archliberal what would be really cool would be a variation on the Wyoming rule but with the smallest state getting 3 reps. That'd help solve the currently huge disparity between the largest and smallest districts by population, and it would also be funny to watch 1722 representatives cram into the chamber!

    @timesandseasons that didn't really get me going as much, mainly because it's the sort of thing that can happen with bureaucracy. I can imagine the city staff being well meaning people doing their best within the system.

    However, for an individual to look at this situation and decide there's nothing wrong and they're still entirely justified? That's pretty poisonous
