The problem with udm14* is that Google Calculator is legitimately one of my favorite pieces of software (the natural language unit conversion is so good), and I expect udm14 is going to kill Google Calculator because that's the point

Maybe I should just make my own js calculator with builtin unit conversion.

so many games made in Unity/GameMaker/etc that only have a Windows version on Steam, and no Mac and Linux. I know Mac complicates things with the notarization thing, but what about Linux? Thought commercial engines major selling point was cross-platform capabilities.

    @aetataureate I saw Totoro as a child and I remembered enjoying it (though I was definitely too old for it) but not much of the details except of course for the giant fluffy racoon bear guy and the cat bus. I rewatched it with my kids a few years ago and it's wild how the "point" of the movie is just... completely different from an adult perspective.

    I pay for the no ad version of Paramount+. Yesterday I sat thought 2 minutes of ads for other shows of theirs. No ads means no ads! Now that they have canceled Lower Decks I'm canceling the service.

    @grumpygamer I used to buy a ton of shows on Google Play and iTunes. But then they started putting ads in them, so I found another site that had the same shows without ads. Better pricing too.

    I kind of miss when Bond movies were completely ridiculous. There would be some woman named Iva Wetpussy, and she'd not wear bottoms the whole movie with no explanation. But we need to make this more inclusive, so there also needs to be a man named Colin Allbutts that wears chaps the whole time, and an Ace named Ima Notinterested, who actually gets all the work done.

    @aetataureate I still remember my parents watching an awful Andy Rooney bit on 60 Minutes basically all about how stupid Kurt Cobain was and saying that viewers should "save their tears" for, I have no idea who, someone else who had died that same week and made a convenient prop for Rooney to celebrate as a meritorious alternative to the insipid Cobain

    @aetataureate ironically, the reason reddit is able to be lionized as the last bastion of Actual Things Written By Actual Humans, despite the incredibly shitty things the owners have done to the site and its users, is that it sticks to the old, low-tech formula of having communities be moderated at by a large number of humans each individually responsible for a specific area. And across a huge range of topics and political leanings, none of them want their particular sub to be overrun by bots.

    @christinelove I only played Ur-Quan Masters a couple of years ago, so I have no nostalgia for it, and I was totally blown away by it. It "feels big" along so many dimensions!

    (Also were you at the Metreon food court sometime Friday afternoon? Because I was pretty sure I saw you there and I am either embarrassed that I didn't introduce myself or relieved that I didn't embarrass myself by making a mistaken introduction)

    @eniko I was only at (the gardens outside) GDC for one day and I met three people who had been laid off and were very explicitly looking for work

    Edit: one of them had attended a supposed hiring meetup and it was all candidates and no employers. "A sausagefest of recruiting" may not have been the most professional way to describe it but I understood him quite clearly

    @djlink also depends on how strict you're being. For instance, the UI elements in Mario Maker are still 2D but they are rendered in high definition

    I still find it amazing that I can even own a 10 TERRABYTE hard drive. It's just silly numbers my tiny human mind cannot comprehend. Still feels sort of science fiction to me to be able to have all that data on something less than room size!

    @psychicparrot42 for me, it's the micro SD cards. I could handle regular SD cards but these have always been too small. "it's got five hundred and twelve gigabytes of storage inside it" what do you mean "inside". There is no "inside" this thing. This is a scrap of plastic that is going to get lost in the laundry
