AI is giving a bad name, with the tired old arguments of security through obscurity. Just because open source alone does not guarantee the responsible development and deployment of an AI model, that doesn’t make it any less essential. The best guardrails will ultimately not stop a proprietary model from regurgitating the problematic inputs it was trained on, and intransparency over this process only seeks to obscure the problem. Es erstaunt mich, wie sehr in der Debatte um KI-Regulierung wieder auf Security Through Obscurity gesetzt wird. Klar, ein Modell ist nicht allein dadurch sicher, dass es ist, aber Intransparenz wird es auch nicht nachhaltig daran hindern, die problematischen Inhalte auszuspucken, mit denen es trainiert wurde. 🤣 The special Brussels-Strasbourg European Parliament train was routed incorrectly this morning and ended up in Marne-la-Vallée (Disneyland) rather than on the line to Strasbourg.

The cynic might say some MEPs did not notice the difference!
