I post about & love #horror in all its forms- especially #books (I #review them) but also #art, #movies, #podcasts, & whatever #spooky/odd randomness my head conjures up. And I make (mostly) creepy/weird art.

Happy Tuesday ! Horror memes are in short supply as of late, so enjoy this funny one. Have a lovely day- hopefully one filled with tacos.

Didn't know what to watch, so... opted to watch this. Hasn't seen it since the theater- it wound up being the perfect choice.

@RichTate @horror It's so fantastic. And gory. It was a blast seeing it in the theater and I held off watching it again because I was afraid it wouldn't live up to that experience but whoo-hoo, it absolutely did.

@AJSWritesthings @horror Yep, it's great. Makes it even more enjoyable because the gore comes right back and doesn't let up.

HAPPY SATURDAY! If I still went to goth clubs, this would be me whenever they'd play Sisters of Mercy or Siouxsie 😂

Happy Friday. I'm in a mood. As Hunter S. Thompson said, "Don't take any guff from these swine." This is the true horror in the world.

My is brief/won't spoil, to spread good, great, & spectacular far & wide.

SHADOW PATHS is a mini-collection of 5 unsettling horror stories w a series of Q & A's + author's notes. Elin Olausson's distinct, descriptive writing & the unique uncanniness of the worlds revealed make this a memorable assemblage of quietly sinister, melancholic tales. (Tales From Between Press)

THE SALT GROWS HEAVY by @casskhaw is an elegant, fractured fairy-tale of Monsters & the monstrousness they encounter. Their world is populated w/ horrors, cruelty, & viciousness, but the dark, beautiful, bloody heart of this novella pulses w/ companionship, respect, & love.

NARCISSUS is a unique spin on a classic myth with a special resonance in a world that seems to reward vapid, vacuous vanity. This compact and creepy nightmare will keep your gaze transfixed as the gory horrors mount and may even inspire a little self-reflection, after. (Shortwave Pub)

The stories, poems, & characters in HOW LOVELY TO BE A WOMAN ring w/ a strength & authenticity that grounds them even as they travel into supernatural & metaphorical territories. This impressive debut by Tiffany Michelle Brown is great: sinister, disturbing, unique, angry, & empowering.

All I knew about this movie was:
-at some point there was a scene not for the emetophobic
-it's a long movie
I was not prepared for how biting & hilarious it was. I laughed, loudly, many times during it. It wasn't perfect, but it was damn entertaining for being 2.5 hrs long.

Having fun drawing with/on black paper. Here's a little ghost I drew. Someone told me he looked worried, so he is now called The Apprehensive Apparition.

I ALSO encourage everybody to do the same. No dog required- and you spend some quality time out of doors! (Don't forget the sunscreen, though.) Happy Saturday!

This movie was a trip. Unnerving, fucking bizarre, and absolutely original- with yet another tremendous performance by Mia Goth. (Everyone was great in it, she was just exemplary.) It makes me so happy that the Cronenberg name continues to make unique and provocative movies. Brandon's movies have the same DNA as his dad's, but make entirely new creatures with it. Loved it.

@apodoxus @horror I found it ambiguous, more than confusing but yes, it's definitely weird! And yes, I've seen Possessor and it's really good. It's also very weird, dark & disturbing.

stina_marie,
@stina_marie@horrorhub.club avatar

@apodoxus @horror I hope you like Infinity Pool, by the way. I'll be curious as to what you think once you've finished it, especially re: the ending.

stina_marie,
@stina_marie@horrorhub.club avatar

@apodoxus @horror He stayed because he was unable to go back to "normal" life. But whether that's because his humanity is broken, or if instead it's that he "evolved" to be the perfect monster, I'm not sure.
The real question is, which one of him stayed? Did the real him die during the first death, the last death, none of them, or one of the others? I love that we can't be sure.

stina_marie,
@stina_marie@horrorhub.club avatar

@apodoxus You could find "evidence" to support all of them. I won't list them because that's part of the fun & why it's such a successful film: they are all equally plausible & you can have a different conclusion every time you watch. I think Cronenberg did it deliberately.
