Adding -r to cp is by far the command I get wrong the most. Been using Linux now since 2017, and I still don't remember to add that about 70% of the time.

Bought Gigabyte 1440p monitor with built-in KVM switch.

At least it's not a 27" monitor capped at 1080p. They have the gall to sell such a bizarre beast today, and probably in TN panel instead of IPS.

It's 2023. Why are people running an LTS from 5 years ago for anything more serious than seeing what it was like back then?

Come on... at least start with the latest supported LTS or stable version. (It's OK to skip those "bleeding edge" ones and non-LTS versions that only get 6 months of support.)

Listen I know we need a lot of variables in math. A single alphabet won’t due. So capital and lower case letters can be different variables. I can even roll with the idea that letters of the same case in different typefaces can be distinct— but, I still find the abusive use of C in Hoggs Mathematical Statistics a little extreme… we couldn’t get more distinct typefaces? How many students have cried because you did this, Hogg? (i otherwise love this textbook it’s so much fun) /math rant

Had to re-install four(!) times within the last 6 hours.

After installing it at least 3 times on the wekend.

The installer does not seem to create swap (for hibernate) or LUKS (for full disk encryption) in some cases. And one time I f***ed up myself somehow. Not quite the best UX with this distribution, I have to say. 😔

At least the most important things do seem to work after I learned how to make them run either manually (outside of Nix) or within my config: https://github.com/novoid/nixos-config

    Okay, so I've had a lot of people ask what the is. So I will make this post and pin it to my profile.

    Basically, I (and any who join me) are vowing to use the same install of one distro for a single year. When something goes wrong, we fix it. No distrohopping, nothing like that. VM use and containers are allowed. This is to be done on your most used PC. Other PCs are at your discretion.

    I chose @opensuse Tumbleweed as my distro.
