Microsoft says they are making a bunch of changes to Recall to mitigate the many, many security and privacy problems that researchers have found over the last week:

@evacide Part of me wants them to release the feature then later backtrack and remove it. Then we can say there was a Microsoft Recall recall.

Today in The Atlantic, “killing children is good actually”.

Completely deranged.

[Uodate: I will block you if you have hare-brained hot takes on this.]

@thomasfuchs I don’t understand how you’re getting “good” from that snippet. Saying “smoking is legal” or “dumping toxic waste in a river is legal” does not mean either is good or ethical or should continue to be legal.

From the rest of your image it doesn’t seem like the author is defending it at all. Quite the contrary, as they’re saying that a legal killing looks no different from a murder.

Maybe the rest of the article supports your point better? It looks like you and the author agree.

My ideal iPad is a 15" iPad Pro with an M4 Pro, combined with a Magic Keyboard with 2 Thunderbolt ports (that do both data & power) and a built-in second battery, that can run macOS and all my legacy software/workflows in a virtual machine, and can be operated entirely in clamshell mode from an external monitor. A drafting table when I need it, a pro workstation when I need that.

If such a machine existed, I would never buy a Mac again. That's what I've wanted on my desktop for the past decade

@stroughtonsmith A “built-in second battery”? I don’t get that, why two batteries?

David Dylan Thomas started his closing talk strong with such a good quote.

It's still going strong.

Like his talks title says:
"No, seriously, fuck engagement: Building a more human web"

@sarajw Do you know if the talk will be posted online? I’m very much interested.

If you would listen to this #curl presentation next week, what question would you ask me?

vitor,
@vitor@hachyderm.io avatar

@bagder With the benefit of hindsight, what functionality would you rather not have implemented in curl, or not in the way it currently is, but it’s too late to change now because it’d cause breaking changes?

(I’m assuming something like that exists in curl because the probability of it happening in any software project increases with longevity and popularity, and curl has both)
