That’s living in Barcelona for me. Valencia is a wonderful city, but I fell in love with Barcelona half my life ago, before I even visited NYC for the 1st time.
Things coming together, I feel like a band that has a huge hit, and everyone is like wow, where did they come from, but you didn’t see the decades of work behind it. #barcelona

Walking across part of the #Barcelona Diagonal #Tram extension, currently under construction.
Unlike the rest of the tram system, that uses a catenary for power, this section of the tram will be powered by a third rail, using the Alstom APS (Alimentation Par le Sol) system. The rail is split into 8m powered segments with a 3m buffer between each segment. Each tram has two collectors, one at each end, and a near field communications system that signals to the power systems that the tram is over the rail. The rail itself is only powered whilst the tram car is over it, thus avoiding electrocuting people who walk over it.
This system has been used in several cities around the world, originally in Bordeaux. It’s the first such installation in Spain. The trams will have this power system retrofitted, and will change from catenary to third rail at particular stops

Scheinbar wird in #Barcelona eine neue #Tram gebaut. Die 3. Spur sieht mir nach einer Unterflur Stromschiene aus. Also ohne Oberleitung. Wenn ich das sehe hoffe ich, dass die Bauphase bei der @tram_kiel möglichst bald startet. Interessantes Detail, der Radweg anbei ist scheinbar als erstes fertig gestellt worden und sichert in der Bauphase die Erreichbarkeit der Geschäfte. Ein Modell für #Kiel?
@Cykelsok@tram_kiel das stimmt. Im Prinzip könnte da schon grün hinpassen, aber diese Betonwannen trocken halt schnell aus. Trotzdem schön, dass da eine Tram gebaut wird.

From #Lyon 🇫🇷 to southern France on board a #Renfe class S-100 #AVE high-speed train, bound for #Barcelona 🇪🇸. This is an eight-car trainset, originally built in the 1990s and substantially refurbished since. The colours used for the outfitting of the cars create a cosy atmosphere.

This is the back-side of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. I took this photo while I was there in 2019. It is an absolutely massive Basilica and it is very difficult to get back far enough to get everything into frame. Antoni Gaudí started building the Basilica in the 1880s it is scheduled to be complete in 2026.
