This is a recording.

A crush of lawsuits over voting in multiple states is creating a shadow war for the 2024 election (apnews.com)

The Republican National Committee, newly reconstituted under Trump, has filed election-related lawsuits in nearly half the states. Recent lawsuits over voter roll maintenance in Michigan and Nevada are part of a larger strategy targeting various aspects of voting and election administration....

You already mentioned "the obvious," and the article said it. It's about removing legitimacy. They don't really care if some of their voters are removed, they care about casting doubt on thr process. For most voters, unfortunately, this means doing this now. We already have processes in place to manage voter roles, and they work. The Republican party is only interested in killing the process. Nothing more.

Her statements about this are almost like asking someone when they quit beating their wife. Ridiculous.

Rite Aid said in a statement that it’s “pleased to reach an agreement” with the FTC but added that “we fundamentally disagree with the facial recognition allegations in the agency’s complaint.” The tech was a pilot program and was only used in a “limited number of stores. The test stopped more than three years ago before the FTC’s investigation began.

Ah yes, we quit breaking the law before you found out so would like to retain the ability to do it again in the future.

All of this should be illegal, everywhere, by any entity, forever.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see in the article the reason why the stockpile I'd being sold. This I want to know.

This title is so misrepresentative that it borders on being a lie.

meeting resistance from people who did not want to alter the iconic landmark

Well this attitude leads to not only increased homelessness, buy I guess also suicide rates 🙁

Holy cow, it sounds like someone told him to look on kayak.com and he got confused 🤔

I don't personally have any issues with the website on mobile, I wonder if it could be browser related? I'm also not expecting perfection from something that hasn't been around very long, and never was on reddit so have nothing to compare it to.

I think you have valid points about "dealing" and "learning" and for some, that will be a turnoff. For me, it is an adventure 🙂

I wonder how many other skulls like this protruded from the cliffs, terrorizing seafarers of days gone by? Another possible contribution to our tales of the sea perhaps?

What an amazing find.

I don't know if you are looking for meat analogues, but I got to eat hand made seitan once. Really great texture. It isn't something I see anywhere in places I tend to be so it was exotic to me. It was pretty labor intensitto make, I thought. It took a lot of water!

unimaginable wealth

These and other points are lacking on details, as usual.

One of the craziest interactions I have seen was when a Peregrine Falcon attacked a Canada Goose in flight. We were watching the goose fly up canyon and the peregrine must have thought it was too close to its nest or something. Only time I've heard a goose make a sound like that!!

This seems like a series a mishaps. If it crushed him, what would it have done to a box of peppers? It says he was inspecting sensors. Was something already going on? If so, maybe protocol needed to be different. What a tragedy.

The article lays out key reasons why imo, like access to knowledge and birth control. We didn't really get much for sex ed, but a few years later we could ask about it in the Internet when the teacher wasn't looking in the computer lab.

As someone else asked, the better question is why are we still asking this question? We should be acting on what is now 20 years of data!!!

These comments are interesting. I have never washed rice, nor even considered it. Now I want to try it out and see what difference I can experience!

Haha no, nothing like that. We were riding on a narrow, windy, river road in the mountains. No ability for cars to pass, but many places for slow moving vehicles to move o er and not even have to stop! Essentially, they wanted the cars to share the road with them but they wouldn't share with the cars. Most people in that area don't care to pause, but after passing multiple pullouts they can become irritable.

I know this is fuckcars but that particular situation was, for me, untenable.

I don't have the answer, but about 10 years ago I was invited to go on a group ride. I'm more of a commuter, but have done longer rides. Anyway, the behavior of the folks I was with made me never want to ride with others again. It was terrible! I think that is why pedal bikes get lumped into this scenario. You could replace the pickup with a Porsche and I think it would be the same scene.

Wow, I don't think Epic ever did anything with Bandcamp. What a terrible way to end it. What will become of the artists who use it as their main platform? I source a significant amount of my music from these artist, from that site.

This sounds much more adorable than the parents probably want it to sound.

Wow, what a game changer this would be for so many people. I wonder how accessible it will be to the people who are most likely to need it?

As someone who builds/maintains/manages trails for a living, I think it would be important to consider how you expect to be using these trails and what kind of terrains they will be on. You don't have to bring out a bunch of specialists (unless you want to) but you will get a better return on investment if you think about what it is you want to do with your network of new trails 🙂 motorbike? Walk? Horse? You can fit a lot of trail I to four acres if you want to, or just a single loop.
