Tendonitis caused me to put aside the banjo for six months. That six months turned into a year, and then the intimidation of relearning everything again became too much and here we are a few years later.
I inherited a (quite fancy I must say) banjo from a neighbor who passed away recently and that was the extra push I needed to get back into it.
Muscle memory is an amazing thing. After picking through tablature of familiar songs a couple times muscle memory seems to take over.

Most of my newest songs have been written on the banjo and my next release will have this extraordinary instrument at its core. While I haven’t thrown my fingerpicks away, playing skin on string has opened my ears and mind to what the banjo can bring to my music. Playing an open backed banjo has connected me like never before as my own body becomes part of the sound.

@bourgwick i think it's fair to say that sweet Georgia brown entered the acoustic music world (as opposed to jazz) via Doc Watson in between 64 and 74 though both Dawg and Spud would have known it from Django and many others obviously
