A thing I like about cats is that they have no filter.
If a cat loves and trusts you, it's not because they are inclined by breeding to do so. It's because, despite their innate narcissism, they have decided you are worthy of attention.
If a cat thinks you are a good person, and worthy of a snuggle, it is in spite of them. It is begrudging. It is beyond earned.
If a cat loves you then you HAVE to love yourself. It's practically an order. You have been found worthy. It's not your choice. #cats
Cats are social mammals. They can, and do, form complex social groups with no humans around. They can also be entirely solitary and territorial -- they're a lot more complicated than dogs.

Cats are a test of whether people understand consent. If someone isn't massively into cats that's okay, but I'm very suspicious of people who think cats are evil.
@garius I had a few cats who loved everybody! One of them knew all the neighbors and was getting snacks on the regular by being sociable! 😂 She did always come home when I called her though, so I guess that means she thought I was worthy? 😏
@garius dogs will stop trusting people who are untrustworthy. some know it right away, even. i love dogs. i love cats. why do people pit one against the other as if it were a contest? both are loving, loyal beings who bring joy into our lives.
@garius dude. not you, nor i, nor anyone knows the myriad things from which love arises. i’ve hear this line of thinking before. love is love. you just happen to prefer cats. dogs don’t filter themselves either.
What if they only give you attention because they know you’re allergic and like making you suffer?
Every time I visit someone with a cat and they say “don’t worry my cat hates everyone” I end with a cat on my lap or sitting on the couch right by my head.
(I realize cats like people who ignore them but I’m sticking with my theory)
@garius This is something I find with horses - animals are always sincere and honest in their responses, they can't be anything else. I think that in this ever-more virtual world we need that more than ever, something undeniably real and honest and offline.

It's pretty warm rn where I live so if a cat cuddles someone here rn that's extra special
@garius I keep my thermostat low because then my cat sleeps on me (also, the environment). If the house is going to be humanless, I turn the temp up...
I'd feel guilty about it, but, you know... cat. She's using me and I'm manipulating her. Also, she bites.
