BREAKING: Forest defenders have launched a tree sit to stop old growth logging on federal Bureau of Land Management land in Southern Oregon. Community members are opposing the Poor Windy timber sale, which targets thousands of acres of mature and old growth forest.

The timber sale is just one of countless projects the BLM has proposed across the region that will clearcut mature and old growth forests, flying directly in the face of commitments made by the federal administration.

Forest defenders are calling for the immediate cancellation of this sale and an end to all logging on public lands. #ClimateCrisis

Everyone In The House Got Covid But Me Except Then I Also Got Covid Update Day 3:

I am still asymptomatic to the point that I am like, looking for symptoms. I woke up last night at 330 AM and couldn't go back to sleep for like an hour and a half. IS IT THE RONA?!

Pop and the Babe are both still sick with slowly improving symptoms. Pop is on Paxlovid because he's Cretaceous so he's whining about everything tasting like pennies but that's what he gets for doing global warming. We are all vaccinated, but I got sick most recently, and my antigen tests are barely registering the T line on Day 3 since my first positive test.

I have been religious about my covid amelioration protocols (pinned post) since Dad first tested positive. I believe that Babe was infected from Dad first and probably gave it to me later, so I had the biggest heads-up about my status, whereupon I immediately started the program. I'm wondering if the measures I'm taking were so much more effective because I started them before I was even testing positive.

I'm not a science doctor or anything.

People don't talk enough about the specific grief and pain that comes when you realize —not just suspect or worry, but REALIZE —that your big dream will not be coming true.

Maybe you're not going to get the job you dreamed of, or the love story you long for, or to escape poverty or illness. Or to avoid climate change.

I think a lot of us suffer from this grief for a future gone without even realizing that the ghosts of our deceased dreams are haunting us, showing up in our anxiety, our addictions, our anhedonia.

You can't move on without mourning. Not with your zombie dreams tottering after you, jaws agape, hungry for your devotion. Ask yourself if you might be suffering because of this.

Ask yourself if your dream is really still attainable and go after it, or ready yourself for its last rites. Let it go and free yourself.

There are other dreams than these.

Dreamed I had Covid and someone ripped my mask off at a party that I both didn't want to be at and also couldn't leave. Not a good sign.

Woke up a little tired and with a slight headache but still testing negative. A good sign.

Still believe I am infected but having a weirdly long incubation period due to being a special little guy.

I'm itching to know the details behind this obvious and unsurprising miscarriage of justice in service to the rich and and powerful. These are the names of the Justices who inexplicably gave Don a break:

I gotta say, their decision to lower his bond is a pretty brazen "fuck you" to anyone who has ever had to post bond in America –and most of us haven't been charged with over ninety felonies while publicly bragging about having infinite money and thumbing our noses at court-enforced gag orders.

When I was arrested for trying to save someone's life at a counterprotest, my bond was not only completely inflexible, as stated by piece of shit judge Silver in Multnomah County, but they increased it via secret indictments while I was in jail.

Judge Silver simply told me at my one and only bail reduction hearing that he didn't believe a $570,250.00 bail was unreasonable for me, a handyman from Portland who mends his own sweaters. They were looking at taking my used truck, worth barely $3k, and other assets for a case in which I injured no one and arguably saved a life with my actions. And that was just for 5 felonies and few misdemeanors.

45 has never protected anyone but himself. He isn't charged for crimes he committed while trying to save anybody.

This is literally outrageous.

Sickening brutality and systemic State violence on display by law enforcement across the US this week.

CW: Racist abuse and sexual assault.

In Mississippi, officers who belonged to a self-described "Goon Squad" were sentenced for torturing two Black men in what is described as a "nightmare of racially motivated beatings, torture, sexual assaults and even a mock execution," after officers broke into a home without a warrant following complaints by neighbors that "several Black men were staying at a White woman’s home." One man was even shot by officers, after they placed a gun inside of his mouth.

Officers attempted a cover up by planting drugs, stealing surveillance footage, and agreeing on a cover story. They made it clear to their victims that they were inflicting this violence because the two Black men were in what was considered a white area of town. This was not an isolated incident, community members report that these officers terrified people for years.

Meanwhile in the bay area, "FBI agents raided a federal women’s prison in California this week so plagued by sexual abuse that it was known among inmates and workers as the “rape club.” Officials are also facing charges for retaliating against prisoners who filed a class-action lawsuit against the abuse. As one attorney on the case stated, "There is no accountability...and the sexual abuse keeps festering and festering until it blows up. They tend to shuffle the offenders. Officials in prisons can be the worst because they are so jaded that all the complaints fall on deaf ears about the guards.”

This brutality is endemic to a system based on violent settler-colonial subjugation, class rule, patriarchy, and white supremacy. It cannot be reformed - only abolished and thrown to the dust-bin of history.

Pop is still up trying to work in the garage and I told him this is PRECISELY how you get Long Covid and he straight up blew me off, saying his BRAIN has POSITIVE THOUGHTS and that he is TOUGH. Fuck. Dad's girlfriend flew to Canada last week and either she brought Covid back with her, or he picked it up playing bagpipes in a crowd on St. Patrick's Day —WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT I SAID WOULD HAPPEN. Dad is now testing positive. It scares the shit out of me when he gets Covid. He's tough but he is old and this is a reinfection. They're always a crapshoot.

I'm testing negative right now but I've had (very limited) exposure to them both the last 24 hours. So now the household is in quarantine again.

Goddamned Boomers.
