We have a problem with squirrels eating our jack o' lanterns, so I just work with them. I need an idea for this year!

@IdahoLark Last year I used peanut butter to encourage the squirrels to carve for me

deborahh,

@njvack @IdahoLark terrifying!

@IdahoLark I remember someone who spread peanut butter on pumpkins to encourage the eating and the results were horror movie quality lol

I find it adorable but you may not. An idea that might be a win is to;

  1. Put them in a see through crate that is closed
  2. Carve them as squirrel houses or funny things. The squirrel back end out of the mouth is sort of funny.
  3. Use fake pumpkins outside and real ones inside until they are no longer needed.
  4. Have a contest to see which pumpkins the squirrels eat first.
  5. Fill them with nuts.
  6. Make funny pumpkins that will enhance the squirrel nature such as a bear eating the squirrel or a squirrel driving a car and resign yourself to pictures that get hung.

@IdahoLark SAMURAI! With a hole in the top for squirrel-tail top-knot pony-tail thingy.

@vlrny That is a brilliant idea!

@IdahoLark these are great. You could do a vomiting one, you could do a hole in a stretched nostril so it goes up their nose, you could design it like a little house, you could make it a UFO, you could put the hole at the top and draw a little body under it so when they poke their little head out they will look like they're wearing a silly outfit or like a mech suit or something.

@ADHDefy I like the squirrel-in-the-nose idea.

@ADHDefy @IdahoLark clever! For ideas ... I once carved YUM into a pumpkin with an orange caterpillar made of small pumpkins that was finishing eating the M

@IdahoLark

Why not put nuts inside, assuming squirrels prefer nuts to pumpkin they may eat those instead.
