Just finished #MyIDIsGangnamBeauty
Still wasn't my fave show but some of the characters became richer with time.
I really laughed out loud a number of times at the hilarious physical comedy! The best was a tandem drunken toothbrushing scene! That was awesome. And comedy is so much funnier without that annoying laugh-track in the background telling you when you're supposed to find something funny. #kdrama

@whoosh YES! especially when it's a writer trapped in her story situation and she ends up back in her own timeline and i'm all like NOOOOOOOO all those other characters need to keep living their lives in their world and don't make made-up reality interfere with this please.

Haha, so funny the storylines that can feel real once you're totally absorbed. I need something similar to Goodreads to track my watching. I broke down and started actually writing in one of my journals, now that I'm in the double digits for series.
It wasn't everyone's cup of tea but I had a lot of fun watching #DoomAtYourService #kdrama

This is how I know I've completed 12, put 3 on hold and have 66 on my watch list. Which is only going up as I keep distracting myself with recommended new shinies.
The only thing that matters is that I'm enjoying what I give time to though, so it's all good :)

Oh, that's totally it! I only started this in April but I think I just started my 10th series and I checked out a couple of others. I'm working my way through #hangul on Duolingo. I actually really appreciate the emotional workout that each new series brings. Noisy laughter, wrenching sobs, anxious anticipation. Just opened a #MyDramaList account to track my new #kdrama addiction.

Is it possible to "add friends" on #MyDramaList like on GR? I have trouble staying on a site with a punch of pop-ups and videos but I'll certainly use it to track what I watch.
Started with #TheExtraordinaryAttorneyWoo and I think that will be a winner. Somebody else mentioned that they love having a set number of episodes to watch and I wholeheartedly agree.

@EllenInEdmonton@whoosh@Erzbet@emmaaum I made lists of shows I’ve watched and then lost the list. Poof. Vanished. Now kinda kick myself for removing them from previously watched lists. I even listed the shows by all their titles. I use dramalist all the time but the pop ups are cringe.

I was so happy when folks shared about #MyDramaList because it's more efficient and social than just writing down shows in a book. I've accumulated series at a rather terrifying rate.
I can believe that one's list would grow 😉 I only ever use #MyDramaList when I am Googling info about a #Cdrama. Did not know that one could set up a profile etc

Oh wow, that timekeeper is scary!! You can "add friend" from a profile but not from your list. Anyway, I added 2 of you. Not sure if Emma has a profile. I haven't added much to mine but it will come.

you can also make custom lists that can be public or private...so if for example, you want to give a friend a list of dramas to watch, you could make a public custom list and give the friend the link...and it would have all the drama descriptions and everything for them to browse to decide what to watch. @whoosh@emmaaum
@Erzbet I have lists to organise by platform, so I can sub wisely this winter. The best maintained is those available on youtube. Feel free to browse.
I also keep a list of actors/resses I most liked so I have a chance of not driving myself crazy trying to figure out where I've seen that face before :)

Thanks, I watch as little as possible on YouTube, especially since they defaulted to showing massive computer-generated captions on Every.Single.Video!! I've searched and search for how to turn that off with no lasting success.
@EllenInEdmonton The captions have been alright for me. I do watch via an alternative & non-tracking front end called Piped but I don't think that would affect the subtitles. They're there if I turn them on, and reasonably sized. Can't think of what might cause the problem you're having 🤔
@Erzbet thanks. yeah, i've come across his channel before, though i tend to use the official GMMTV playlists instead. really like what i've seen from them so far. Made Moonlight Chicken last three days because it was so good and then binged The Eclipse in just over 24 hours cause those lads were too vulnerable and they needed to be safe :)
@Erzbet LOL. Don't need a list, I have MDL 😊 I'm going to need some good bedrest things in a couple of weeks (to recover from some travel and over-exertion), so I'll see what I get on with then. Thai definitely at the top of the list and working towards Our Skyy.

Oh, the actor list is a great idea. Just saw 2 familiar faces on Extraordinary Attorney and checked out where I'd previously seen them.
My 19th life is one of my to-watch lists. But now I am still hungover from watching Blood Of Youth. Do you get so sad after watching an amazing show like I do? This one hit all the right spots for me and made me realise how much I missed old style wuxia!

Oh, I definitely feel a hole when these wonderful characters, stories, and places are finished!
BTW, my first #kdrama was #ItsOkayToNotBeOkay. That was SO lush! So many amazing storylines, so many beautifully-developed smaller stories, and all of the fairytale and psychiatric references. I highly recommend!
BTW, I find it just hilarious how many of these k-drama couples cohabitate in celibacy. Like, really?!?

@EllenInEdmonton Missed this in the flurry of conversation yesterday. I only started in April too, more or less. It is quite a ride emotionally, sometimes too much for me, but it's so much better than western murder and bleakness telly.
@emmaaum Haha, quite emotional really. I stopped watching all TV back in 2009 because there was so little of interest and good quality. When I had COVID a year ago, I watched all of #SchittsCreek and #ReservationDogs and then, found nothing of interest again. Now, my problem is finding time to fit in at least one epsiode/day and SO many on weekends!!
@EllenInEdmonton I'm not able to work because of chronic illness disability and my life is very isolated, so there's far too much time to fill and it's difficult to find good things to fill the hours with. My drama tendencies are increasingly about how they affect my headspace, so if something's helped me that way I'll let it linger. The rollercoaster will still be there :)
But yes, there is a LOT.

Haha, I don't dare expand my countries or my platforms!! #kdrama is already taking over my life. And, I lived in #Thailand for a couple of years as a kid so I have a starter knowledge of language/culture. Dangerous. Already spending hours/week studying #hangul as well as watching #kdramas. I need to wait until winter to expand on my indoor activities.
@EllenInEdmonton I'm not watching more hours by watching widely though. Watch list is longer for it, but that's just a collection of possibilities.
So cool you're learning hangul :) Thai was the first of the languages I thought I could maybe get my ears around but I haven't yet found a source to start.
Am moderating my screen time during the summer too, so I'm saving the 40+ episode Chinese epics for winter :D

Oh sure! I lived in Khon Kaen when the university was being established. I returned there and ran their 1/2 marathon in 2019. The city is still quite similar. It's not a tourist destination, although tourists pass through on their way to Vientiane, Laos. We lived on the campus while I was there but visited the market most weeks and we travelled to Bangkok and Vientiane several times. We did eat the spicy food often but I fell in love with tropical fruits!
