@pixelcats I had a tarantula climb out of a cupboard a cousin gave me in Sydney. Called building maintenance and the guy, who didn’t believe me, walks in with Baygone and a broom. Opens my door, walks in, yells, “Woaaaaah!” And backs out. (Was size of softball) Eventually he went back in and after 20 minutes of banging, opens the door and my bedroom reeked of Baygone and spider was killed.

I just wanted him to sweep it out the window.

@GQB @bunnytown the ban/divestiture issue has been Rubio’s project since 2022, like him going after Huawei and all things Communist. It then gained traction this past November because of Josh Hawley.
Hawley is the one who got neurotic about TikTok ‘radicalizing’ ppl who don’t support bloodbaths and how the US won’t have control/censorship capabilities.

@GQB @bunnytown there will probably be lawsuits but this might be why they pushed for divestiture. The reason behind the ban is driven by who controls and has access to all the data. And begs the ? Would forcing it to localize storage in US thru Oracle, be used by foreign nations to do the same with US platforms like Meta and Apple.

Starlink is about to have more sats in orbit than known exoplanets, and with each launch, make it harder to do astronomy research

@Sheril My B-I-L lives in upstate NY and a neighbor's dog died from a tick bite. B-I-L mentions it's a result of warmer temperatures, changing climate and the guy whose dog died - anti science guy- insists there hasn't been any change in climate. Recent DIY has me thinking of the story mom tells me of when I was in nursery school. The teacher called my mom in for a parent-teacher meeting and had something quite serious to discuss with her. Mom was all worried as it sounded like a dire issue.

She shows up, the teacher asked her to sit down, looked her dead in the eyes, paused and said, “Jody uses too much paste.”

My mom sat there waiting. Looking. Blinking. Preparing herself, “Aaaaaaand?”

Aaaaaaaand nothing. That was it.

Let’s talk about seam guides, @sewing!

What are your favourite seam guides to use when ? Do you use the same one every time, or vary it depending on what you’re sewing? Do you always use a seam guide, or just sometimes? Never? Do you prefer to align w/ the right edge of the presser foot and move the needle position on your domestic sewing machine? Tips? Tricks?

Personally, I try to use mine as much as possible and pick one depending on what I’m sewing (or how long it takes to install).
