Last week I've got both the #Flu and #Covid#XBB1 shot on the same day I've asked my GP - someone else has cancelled.
Otherwise I might have tried this pharmacy too - only the statement "We vaccinate according to the current STIKO recommendations"
raises questions.
(Jan knows this, but some international readers might not: the German STIKO "Ständige Impfkommission" has developed into an anti-vaccination commission, IMHO.)
@jwildeboer ambigon apotheke in Nymphenburg gave me the #COVID shot, and I believe a friend got the #flu and #covid ones from them on the same day without any challenges

I got both shots at the same time by my doctor. One for each arm.

Choose at the pulldown menue "Leistungen" options "Covid-19-Impfung" and/or "Grippeimpfung"
I will ask them if they think it's OK to get the flu shot now or better to wait and get it closer to the holiday season. But COVID is not even a discussion. So far I made it through the pandemic without getting infected. So I need to keep my immune system prepared this way :)
@jwildeboer I really don't get why doctors are so hesitant with that. I got lucky with my Hausarzt, but overall I think we would be better off with higher vaccination rates. Would be great if vaccination was a standard feature at any (larger) pharmacy in Germany.
@jwildeboer Sure, I'd love to see the trade off calculation with more flu/covid shots compared to the number of sick days without those shots expressed in euros. I can't image vaccination is more expensive (for flu/covid specifically).
@jwildeboer Both of my doctors gave the advice to get the Covid and the flu shot in one go. (And the pneumococcus shot somewhat later.

In case you wonder why I talk about this in detail: It is quite a revolution to get vaccinations in a pharmacy in Germany. The doctors have lobbied heavily against that with really weird arguments. The same doctors who refuse to give you a shot because they claim to know better. Earlier today I posted about a father here near Munich who got 40(!) times No from 40 doctors to get his children vaccinated.
@jwildeboer Weeks ago I asked my doctor about a Covid shot. Been told they are still "organising" the vaccinations. At this point I'm almost certain they're doing jack shit.
My job has made me travel to a lot of places all over the world. This is why I care about vaccinations. They are IMHO the biggest thing ever for humanity. We can and have eradicated diseases that way. And though not all vaccinations give sterile immunity, they at least greatly reduce the risks of severe consequences. So for me it was never a discussion. #GetVaccinated Yes, every vaccination has a minimal risk of effects that could impact my health too. But compared to what they protect for ...
If you refuse vaccinations for whatever reason — that's your freedom. I just expect you to respect my freedom to get vaccinated and talk about why. Is all.
@jwildeboer Honestly, I disagree. Almost no one has a valid reason not to get vaccinated and instead endanger anyone they encounter.
And those few who do have valid (i.e. medical) reasons not to get vaccinated – they most likely already do everything they can to stop spreading Covid, as they're certainly high-risk patients themselves and thus are among those suffering the most from the ongoing pandemic.
UPDATE: It all went as planned. I got both shots without any trouble. No waiting time, everything perfectly organised. And all for free (for me), as the pharmacy gets reimbursed by me health insurance. So thank you, #Saniplus pharmacy team and thank you, #DAK (my health insurance).
The lady that administered the shots warned me that I might feel a bit uncomfortable tonight and tomorrow. This is a known effect when you get both shots at the same time. Tomorrow is a bank holiday in Bavaria, so I can just stay in bed :) That’s one of the reasons I booked for today :)
@jwildeboer I gather the vaccination centers are gone and insurance is required this year? I'll be passing through Bavaria next month and I'd have quite fancied getting another booster, given here in brexitland's third world we still are not allowed to get them
@jwildeboer status update: got a booster at a GP in Austria, just had to fill some forms and pay 35€ given I'm not a resident - worth every cent. Sorted and with plenty of time for it to be effective for FOSDEM!
