just had a webpage try to display a video ad, but for some baffling reason they DRM'd the ad so my browser asked if I wanted to allow playback of DRM'd content and I just said no. amazing design, no notes.

Is it me, or is it a huge conflict of interest for corporate executives to be on the boards of other corporations? Things get especially complicated when they do cross-promotions or collaborations.

If I as a shareholder were paying an executive literally tens of millions of dollars per year, I think I’m justified to insist that they spend 100% of their professional attention on their one employer, and not on another, ostensibly unrelated corporation.

In other news: As a no-name individual contributor, I would be in breach of corporate code of conduct if I were to join the board of directors of an unrelated corporation, no matter how small. Why are executives exempt from this rule?

@nixCraft No, it is not. Everyone seems to misunderstand the situation: Only tabs you click on are loaded in your session, the others are just placeholder tabs in the UI without actual websites loaded. That’s why several thousand open tabs aren’t a problem at all.

@matzipan This is the typical baffling arrogant mindset: We want to dictate the theming and everyone else is WRONGWRONGWRONG!!!1

Your themes not being compatible makes the programs using them look alien on other desktops. But GNOME just doesn’t care. KDE does! And the other way around too!

And what about people with sensory issues who cannot use themes anymore? Are they a collateral damage for GNOME for a hypothetical Apple-minded issue not really existing?

@cstross But why? Users have to take Ozempic their whole life! They are buying fast food/drinks like before but now without weight increase. This doesn’t make sense to me, if anything those brands should be thriving even more! It’s not like Ozempic does deincentivize you to eat junk food.
