saigot, other than landing on reddit a few times from searches I haven’t gone on reddit at all. I really miss a few communities, but I think it’s best to pull off the bandaid now.
ProtonBadger, (edited ) I use both kbin and reddit every day for now, I have a number of subscriptions on each. I'll drop reddit if the kbin/lemmy gets some more growth. I also follow some people and hashtags on Mastodon, I don't use Twitter.
As for the other question I use my phone around 20-30min a day in total, mostly for 2FA and answering the door and the odd call.
FrostBolt, I'm on kbin instead of lemmy, but yeah, like others here, I mostly only land on reddit through googling stuff.
I do miss some of the more niche communities, but the fediverse is serving as a good time waster / read-stuff-at-breakfast site.
The whole reddit debacle actually caused me to re-think my use of sites like these and my overall usage is down. reddit was a little TOO fun/addictive.
Crimfresh, The admins permanently banned me after 12 years because I said the politics mods suck and told the story of being banned from that sub permanently for saying "only a fool links an opinion as evidence.". They called that harassment and upheld the ban even after appeal. Fuck Reddit, I don't use the site anymore. Lemmy is not a real replacement but hopefully it gets there eventually.
st3ph3n, I ditched reddit on the blackout weekend, and have only been back as a result of google search results. A combination of kbin, tildes, and mastodon has replaced it for me.
_haha_oh_wow_, On mobile, yes, 100%. On desktop, I still use old.reddit.com+RES + uBlock but I use it way less than I used to.
PM_me_your_vagina_thanks, "How does x look like" is incredibly annoying, and really shitty grammar.
codybrumfield, I think I’ve visited Reddit’s homepage (not via Google) twice since I setup Kbin and Lemmy accounts and they were both to find out how a group of people I rarely interact with live their lives:
- When Trump got indicted for the coup, I checked out some right wing subreddits to see if they were taking it in stride or were gonna be goons about it.
- Taylor Swift announced multiple shows in my city and I was trying to figure out if Swifties travel like jam band fans or what. (My office is basically next to the arena and I have no idea how hard Swifties go.)
BarrierWithAshes, Total usage of all these sites as plummeted for me. I used to spend maybe a hour on Reddit each day. Now it's down to like 30 minutes. And that's scattered to something like a few minutes here and there across the whole day.
sacredbirdman, I don't use Reddit anymore, except some random visits through a search engine. My screen time is like 1-3 hours a week..
Nougat, No, it has not. I never use reddit anymore.
Overzeetop, My screen time is always borked because iOS won't let uploads happen in the background/when the screen sleeps, and some genius in Cupertino thinks 6 auto-lock options ranging from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, plus never, is somehow better than a simple slider or spinny-wheel thing that lets me choose, so most of the time my auto-lock is set to never and whatever was on my screen when the upload finished gets 6 hours of "screen time" for that day.
That's said, Memmy is commanding a pretty good chunk of my leisure time. I'd tell you how much I was on reddit, but I don't have their app so it's near-zero on my phone, lost in browser time.
dasnet, I find it so much more refresing here, even when I miss my communities the way people speak here, reddit feels too hollow
Pistcow, Any good pulls with the 8th anniversary? Just a ton of duoes for me.
erre, Lemmy has almost completely replaced reddit for me.
There are a handful of subs I still visit because the equivalent communities here either don’t exist or are near dead. I’ve refused to install the reddit app though and found Geddit which doesn’t use their API. I just lurk so it works out for me.
