Blue Sky

Finally got an invite from & created an account.

The place seems dead, I have so gotten used to now that other social media sites look out of place.

has become unbearable even though it has maximum demographic.

Its a bit split now alot of professionals I want to follow are posting on were previously on birdsite.

I know search only works on the sooner people realize & change practices the easier it will become for them.

@nosherwan LinkedIn, at least in my neck of the woods, is your bog-standard Facebook style hustle posts and "Yay we're a company made of people and therefore we ARE A PEOPLE! Love us!" kinda stuff.

I don't really stick around with it anymore for that reason.

@wholesomedonut I agree LinkedIn has alot of fake vibes, fake happy people in happy go lucky jobs

shipp,

@jgayfer @nosherwan tbh this is a good reason why we need algorithms. I really like BlueSky's idea of algorithms being a layer on feeds that you can choose and swap out. Too much quality content gets drowned out by my first-post first-serve timeline feed.

@shipp @jgayfer that is debatable however as to what decides that the quality of your content is better than mine 😀

@shipp so you mean to say they should have a algo called “left wing” and one called “right wing”

@shipp lol,😂 I was joking but just tried to prove a point alternative algos wont be enough to make everyone happy that is why no algo is better

The issue I see with algorithms is that the end user doesn't have the control. I see no reason why a transparent and user tweakable algorithm couldn't work just fine.
