ai6yr,

Ha! Someone planted a banned book in my Not-A-Trademark-Registered-Library. Do you know which one?

@ai6yr Looks like several candidates there that might raise the hackles of a feral, repressed, white christian nationalist

I think Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass has been banned in the USA from time to time, but I don't know if it is currently banned.

ai6yr,

@llewelly ah, that is 2 books then!

@ai6yr
oh, I had totally forgot, but Silverstein's Where The Sidewalk Ends was banned in some parts of the USA back in the 1980s.

@ai6yr

My guess was also the Shel Silverstein book, sadly.

But also, was curious about the proliferation of Chicken Soup for the Soul books that seemed to be everywhere in the 1990s so ended up on Wikipedia. Apparently the company that publishes them also owns Redbox, the movie rental kiosks??

18+ ai6yr,

@kc2ihx LOL those Chicken Soup for the Soul books have spawned into a bazillion books here... though (as you can see) the spouse decided they're not worth collecting, LOL. It's like literary junk food...

@ai6yr @kc2ihx haha “junk soup”

@ai6yr Not a guess but love the title Curries Without Worries. 🙂

@ai6yr I agree. Two banned books.

@ai6yr
Wait, wait, wait a minute! I’ve never seen that Mendocino recipe book! Want!

ai6yr,

@USelaine I can pull and mail it to you for the cost of postage, if you want. Media mail is pretty cheap.

epu,

@ai6yr omg is it where the sidewalk ends?

ai6yr,

@epu Amazing, isn't it... considered subversive!

epu,
@epu@mstdn.social avatar

@ai6yr I mean it’s never made my kids wear a toilet plunger for a hat. Even they realize it is humor.

@epu @ai6yr The future is a stupid place. Our teachers read that to us in grade school (public) and we LOVED it. My very conservative parents got me copies of that and the Light in the Attic.

There was never a discussion of banning that, Judy Blume books, Anne Frank’s Diary, etc.

@epu @ai6yr I am the guilty one. Thanks for the Italian baking book BTW.

ai6yr,

@volvodadfast @epu Excellent!
