Any excursion inland before the oaks leaf out reminds me of the time a work visitor from the city arrived forlornly asking “what is this disease killing the trees?”

We were completely confused until she explained further. It was the lichen. She had never seen lichen on trees. Usnea drapes abundantly on the oaks and firs in our clean air. #LichenSubscribe
