@timrichards but what is a flat white? Probably naively, I always understood it as the espresso equivalent of the old skip “white coffee”: a near-full cup of coffee with a bit of cold milk added. Cafes don’t make it like that so I guess I’ve been wrong all these years.

@timrichards Huh. Living in a town with a huge Italian heritage, it's fun to read that we had the most espresso machines after Italy and Spain.

It's also endlessly amusing listening to all the things New Zealanders claim to have invented. Planes! Jogging! Pavlova! Fire probably!
