Heyweldon,

@ascentale @fedibikes A1. I'm posting from a rainy (again!) Berkeley, CA today, on Jan. 2. My favorite cycling moment of 2023 was riding at night with my son for the first time. I loved night riding when I was his age, and he loved going on a quick spin around Berkeley (between raindrops) a couple of weeks ago.

A1. As usual, I’m in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Several memories of rides last summer with my son to local breweries where we enjoyed a beer on a patio. 🍻🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️

@ascentale @fedibikes A1: Posting from Melbourne, Australia. My highlights for the year were both trips up in the Yarra Valley near , one being a trip up and over Mt Donna Buang and back via O'Shannassy Aquaduct Trail, and the other one being a trip up from Yarra Junction to Starling's Gap with camping gear on board ... and then back down again because the campground was too busy for me! Very exciting to be getting out of town though, hopefully will head further afield soon ...

A1. Reporting in from Alameda, California.

One of my favorite bike moments was realizing there was this amazing graffiti art on my commute through Oakland, Mandela and Grand.

nothingfuture,

@ascentale @fedibikes A1: I’m just outside Boston MA. Favorite cycling memories this year are getting out on the tandem with one of the kids.

@ascentale @fedibikes Northern VT for the Holidays and no cycling because the roads are muddy mucks.

As for the year, I would say riding on Grand Isle and South Hero over the summer was absolutely lovely.

A1. Vancouver, BC for a change.

I think my favourite cycling moments were going bike camping for the first time. I went to China Camp and Haypress Valley in the SF bay area. More generally this year was my first year really biking long distances for fun (previously was primarily a commuter) and I am generally not very outdoorsy so getting to go places like the Marin Headlands was very cool.

Posting from home in Rochester Minnesota.
I've had so many good experiences on my bikes this year it's hard to pick just one. I would have to say I have ridden my bike in so many states (and one province) including visiting two oceans on my bike.

@ascentale @fedibikes yay finally catching this in real time - thanks for always doing this - am in San Francisco and nothing notable aside from biking almost every day I was home (including a rainy today!)

@ascentale @fedibikes A1. My sofa, in Northern Virginia. Nothing too notable, but it was fun discovering that I can comfortably bike unpaved trails that would have been challenging on my old skinny-tire road bike.

@ascentale @fedibikes A1: Ventura County, California. Most significant cycling moment: actually got on the bike again (after getting it back into shape after way too many years). Took it to the local library. It was a bit of a psychological hurdle (have been avoiding the roads due to safety issues, but our city put in new bicycle lanes, which substantially mitigated things...)
