@oliphant Again, this is why I opted to use a group instead of a hashtag.

As I've learned from Twitter and Instagram, when hashtags gain popularity, they get hijacked -- and there's nothing you can do about it.

A group at least gives me the option to ban bad actors from attempting that.

    Ya do a fantastic job sharing it here, but groups like these need a wider reach.

    Same goes for really.

    @atomicpoet i wonder if it's a bug relating to linking to an account and mentioning it in the same post. not sure if it's a recent thing, it might not be.

    @atomicpoet I just tested it by DMing a bot and linking to them, it's indeed a mastodon bug, if you mention someone and link to them in the same post the link also becomes a mention.
