The first commercial GMO was the Flavor Savor tomato (engineered to ripen off the vine back when tomatoes were picked green & gas ripened). Quickly replaced by greenhouse ripened tomatoes.
(Then came crunchy when canned carrots, but it was the corn modified with peanut allergens that gave GMOs a bad rap).
