Lots of progress with actually getting up and doing something tonight
namely getting my old model 1 sega cd actually out and testing to see why it might be dead. it has a blown fuse! I'll be ordering a replacement and mod it so it's easy to replace
once I get that done, I'll get a proper power supply and start testing the add-on in earnest
