@daviwil Thanks for this! Missed the stream and skimmed some of it, but got me to finally try out wayland and hyprland (been drooling for some more eye candy) on Guix. So far so good! Will work on upstreaming to Guix as well, main blocker is some updates for things like libdrm I believe. Coming soon with newer mesa :)

@daviwil I like and use hyprland but i slowly thinking about replacements like dwl, and yambar instead of waybar.

I turn off animations anyway (never was good at this). I don't round borders so ...
all i need is speed, and functionality.

Hyprland is great to start if someone transition to wayland. Easy to setup and there's a lot of features.

Right now i'm busy painting everything in achromatic scale. And possibly i need better logo (in SVG this time).

I tried experimenting with gray colors in terminal but, it's not working so i use defaults from tty/vt.c

less is more.

@sourcerer haven't heard of yambar, I'll check it out! I prefer th minimalism of Sway, I just want the UI to stay out of my way the majority of the time

He also wrote famous foot terminal. His repo is full of minimal and great programs. Also emacs user!

@daviwil I tried #hyprland but abandoned it as it has no tabbed layout. I also prefer to have one window and the rest should be hidden

@daviwil If you are talking about tabbed windows - it's not a layout. It is unusable thing. You need manually add windows every time and use different dispatchers to move between whem. And they are working on single output only. There are 2 plugins with workarounds(hy3 and pyrpland), but with their own caviets.

@daviwil It may be worth mentioning that the community behind Hyprland is a little problematic/edgy, which Drew Devault has covered a bit https://drewdevault.com/2023/09/17/Hyprland-toxicity.html

It doesn’t detract from the compositor itself! It’s really good. But it’s worth noting in case people go looking for more resources.
