Sad internet addiction noises
Before you tell me to touch grass, grass is kinda illegal here in the US (if you know what I mean by “grass” 😉).

Sneptaur, It’s a good thing Lemmy is small, because you still run out of content faster. Less time staring at your phone is usually still a good thing.
paulchartres, Yeah I was surprised to see how fast I read the entirety of the greentext community here… but that’s a good thing, makes me realize it’s an addiction and forces me to stop
potpie, Back when I started with Reddit I remember sorting by new and thinking, jeez why would anyone sift through all this crap… Cut to me exclusively sorting by new all the time because I looked at ev.ry.thing. So yeah, this is nice. Though in the future it may be just as full. Cross that bridge when we come to it I guess.
Sneptaur, Use this opportunity to form a healthier relationship with social media
potpie, A good suggestion. I’m already trying to post less, comment less, and just focus on making better, more frequently positive contributions.
Sneptaur, Kudos to you for that!
gosling, I open Lemmy, “oh still the same top posts from 6 hours ago”, goes back to doing whatever I was doing
Imgonnatrythis, Yeah but then I wonder if maybe there’s so new good comments or some memes posted IN the comments that I might have missed. If you really have a problem you can have a problem on Lemmy too.
Sneptaur, Rare Lemmy L
001100010010, I sort by All/Hot, and if that’s not enough, I turn on All/New to get maximum “High” on Lemmy.
Aurenkin, Gotta sort by hot so you don’t miss out on those 3 year old posts with like one comment from someone 6 months ago confused about why the article is so out of date.
Mythril, I accidentally sorted by old once, saw a bunch of “testing” posts, it was kinda amusing.
001100010010, xD
the reason it’s hot is because someone forgot to turn off the stove from months ago
ilikecoffee, That’s cause those posts have been boosted, or so I hear.
kurwa, What if I’m not doing anything else? 🥹
jackie_jormp_jomp, Then you jack off
idunnololz, Someone taught me the “hide read” workflow and now it’s harder for me to run out of content. Double edged sword though.
lorez, I usually open YouTube at that point…
notenoughbutter, I am bored of YouTube now
most of it is meaningless clickbait with dicksucking face and ALL CAPS TITLE
even good creators are nowadays forced to insert crap to make their videos over 8-10 mins long to please the algorithm
it feels like there is no organic content available even if there is, it is buried deeply inside
hungryphrog, well at least Lemmy seems to be less toxic
001100010010, What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I have a PhD in online arguments, and I’ve been involved in numerous anonymous arguments with internet strangers, and I have won over 300 arguments online.
Holzkohlen, Talk dirty to me, daddy.
gravitas_deficiency, I mean, it does feel like you’ve stepped back from the edge a bit. Like you’ve knocked off the black tar heroin in favor of crack.
Resistentialism, Remember kids: it’s completely acceptable to replace one addiction with another.
Maybe you’ll find a new hobby.
rockSlayer, (edited ) I’ll get to touch that sticky, sticky grass soon, my state legalized this year. Minnesota 23 in '23!
IanM32, Woot woot fellow Minnesotan!
aranym, Hello fellow Minnesotans!
Zoot, Any of yall got that sweet sweet minnesota train gif?
IanM32, I don’t think I’m familiar with that, but I’d like to be.
Zoot,
jeffw, Grass may be illegal, but that doesn’t stop me from taking massive rips before commenting
southsamurai, Hey man, that’s like,
tisjoefoo, I have been living in the Pacific Northwest bubble for long enough that I forgot weed isn’t legal in a lot of places in the US. Literally raised an eyebrow while reading the subtext before remembering
Th4tGuyII, Different drug, same addiction haha
Though for what it's worth, I do find it easier to pull myself off of Kbin than I did Reddit
dandan, I like that kbin and Lemmy aren't going to have an entire team of people doing continuous A/B testing to find what drives the most engagement.
Much less chance of this ending up as a dopamine slot machine.
yhnavein, Thankfully Lemmy isn’t really good, and has rather limited amount of functionalities and content comparing to Reddit so I’d say I’m good and not addicted anymore 😉
z3n0x, Lemme fix that for you
circuitfarmer, Not to speak for everyone, but those of us in parts of the country where grass is not illegal really appreciate that grass is not illegal. If we can’t have meaningful change in other areas, at least we can soften the blow.
SkyNTP, I spend less time on Lemmy than I did on Reddit. I think I just found other things to do.
luis123456, Well, lemmy feelsmore like a home than Reddit.
treefrog, I’m not addicted to anything other than dodging mu uncomfortable feelings.
Which I am super addicted to so I end up on lemmy alot!
itscozydownhere, Mission accomplished
EremesZorn, Recreational is completely legal in NJ. To the point where employers cannot make a decision to hire or fire based on your cannabis use unless they can provide hard evidence that you were using on the job.
You just can’t cross state lines with any amount.
001100010010, Still federally illegal. I wouldn’t try it as long as it’s still on the books. A change in administration could easily direct federal agents to enforce the controlled substances act
EremesZorn, Lol? If you’re in NJ, and you want to smoke weed, Johnny Law in the DEA isn’t going to kick down your door and stop you.
The cops here can smoke weed. There are literally no arrests for recreational amounts now.
Risk, I actually find I scroll longer - the content is better ha.
