Matriks404, These indicate place of articulation of the sound that come out of your mouth. It’s one of 3 main ways to categorize consonants in linguistics, or more precisely in phonetics.
Bilabial consonants are made when both lips are touching for example, while labiodental consonants are made when lower lips are touching upper teeth.

Arrkk, If you were wondering, it got named “double u” when u and v were the same letter, V was used at the beginning of words and u ain the middle/end. It wasn’t till much later they were seperated into 2 glyphs for different sounds.
