It seems to me like this is just a bribe to shut up about the cause of the lawsuit. It doesn’t lead to justice, and is not punitive enough in the case of large corporations....
I’m not sure I completely understand the differences. Are they seperate or somehow connected?...
I’m trying to build a sublemmy (BeWowed) based on r/Damnthat’s intresting and r/BeAmazed material that I have accumulated over the years but i need to host all the videos on imgur. Will lemmy be able to host videos? Do you have better alternatives than imgur? Thanks!
I’m trying to understand how an app would even get that info in the first place, how that’s classified and why a mobile operating system even has a way to provide that data....
Right now I have my feed sorted by Hot. The sixth post in my feed is 19 days old, has zero comments, and one upvote. I’m struggling to work out what algorithm is deciding this is a Hot post
I’ve been listening to this NPR (public radio) show, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, for probably 20 years. It’s a comedy news quiz, and they have listeners call in to participate. I’ve wanted to call in since I was a kid (I’m 31 yo now), but I’ve got some fun anxiety around talking to people if I don’t know what to...

I thought all apps were broken on July 1st?
I have a theory that there is a impossible trinity (like in economics), where a food cannot be delicious, cheap and healthy at the same time. At maximum 2 of the 3 can be achieved....
I see stories about how election is rigged or that there are security vulnerabilities and lots of people don't believe the outcome. Why don't they just open source everything so that anyone can look at the code and be sure the votes are tallied correctly?

I’m still in my 20s, but as of a few years ago I started forgetting what’s my exact age. I always have to stop and recalculate it each time someone asks me. I get asked fairly infrequently, but when I do it’s a bit weird/embarrassing that I have to say “wait, let me calculate”. (I know when I was born, of course.)...

Everyone is talking about the American soldiers killed in Jordan. But I don’t know why they were there to begin with.
In the last 5 to 10 years everything seems to suck: product’s and services quality plummeted, everything from homes to cars to food became really expensive, technology stopped to help us to be something designed to f@ck with us and our money, nobody seems to be able to hold a job anymore, everyone is broke. Life seems worse in...
Ok, so obviously no one here has done anything to make this world what it is. Wall Street, corporations, and racist social structures are why the world is how it is, and that is just the truth....
I’m not too tech savvy so I appreciate responses in layman’s terms....
I am looking for a term to describe the line of thinking that goes something like “I hate my work, I am sick all the time, I am depressed, I can’t find happiness. But I should be happy. Those problems don’t matter. All my problems are so insignificant, there are little. They’re just some stupid first world problems. I...
I’m Canadian. And I’m already sorry for asking an ignorant question....
Only about 1/4 of them did this
I’ve learned about them in school, but I’ve never heard anyone say something is 8 decameters long or anything like that. I’m an American.
The Winds and flooding can do so much damage with modern construction. Seems like it would wipe out entire villages if they were more primitive.
Ok I think I do know the answer but I never learned it, so I want to learn it today. It’s been about 1 year now we can reliably make 3nm chips, which is impressive on a scale of size. But why is is better? My theory is simply: We can make a product the same size but add more on it because it’s smaller, making it stronger and...
