I got so deep into the alt text I almost forgot to write the toot!

This is peak . It has been cccold and power went out for about 50 mins so we lit a fire and the power came back on.

For people who care, like me… the firewood is very seasoned and we only use this baby when power goes out on very cold days. We can cook on it and, because of its ventilation system, it heats the entire house. It’s outdated but man it works well!

@thepoliticalcat Solar is on the list. First we have to replace a very large deck that hasn’t done well with all of the snow. We bought a heat pump that lends itself well to solar in advance.

@thepoliticalcat I can relate. ☺️ Year 5 here too. Every year we’ve done 1 large and a few smaller rebuild/replace/remodel projects. The list is still long. lol

@thepoliticalcat Yikes! That sounds like a significant repair. I thought replacing a $30,000 deck was horrendous. My father in-law (an architect) designed some very cool, steel and glass modular homes that sit on steel posts driven deep into the earth that are pretty earthquake and flood resistant. I keep telling my hubs we need one of those!

@thepoliticalcat I'm hoping homeowner's insurance will at least cover the floor problem. I can hear the ka-ching sound from here. 💸

@thepoliticalcat Ugh. It’s a widespread issue, although now some builders and remodelers are also hurting from fewer jobs owing to higher interest rates. The guy who’s company will rebuild our deck has been begging to start now. We have him scheduled for spring and we can’t do it before then. I hope he’s still in biz in the spring!
