One hour between meetings is the perfect amount of time for me to neither advance projects nor relax.

@Binder I try so hard to optimize my schedule by ensuring all the meetings fall on the same days / ideally almost right after each other.

People seem not to get it. A day where I have a 9 - 10, 11:30 - 12, 1:30 - 3 meeting?

Nothing is getting done, I guarantee it.

RenewedRebecca,

@philip @Binder People who mostly talk for a living (management, sales, etc) will never understand this, because they make "progress" in meetings. For engineers, writers, etc., you need huge blocks of time where you have nothing coming up in an hour or you just can't work. Takes too long to get into the mental state where you can make progress.

incitatus,

@Binder @philip @RenewedRebecca

I found a project manager had scheduled me into a meeting without even asking me. When I asked why she’d done this, I was literally told “You had a free slot so you obviously weren’t doing anything.”

I now have a schedule that involves a single 30 minute video meeting that takes place across 3 continents, with 4 participants, once a week. But only if there’s something to discuss.

ramblindragon,

@Binder The minimum period should be 3 days.
