Problem is not a lack of gear. Problem is lack of a big space to turn it up in.

RenewedRebecca,

@eyesquash I've been thinking a lot lately about moving to a non-amped setup, either via a multi-fx board or even through software on my laptop. Not sure I like the idea though...

Now that progressives have won control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court through a statewide election, and have filed suit to put an end to politically gerrymandered districts, guess how the GOP responds?

They threaten to impeach Justice Janet Protasiewicz, using their illegal, gerrymandered supermajority in the legislature to do so.

They will do anything to stay in power.

RenewedRebecca,

@freemo @georgetakei Ah yes, taking Republicans at their word. Great idea.

The Internet Archive needs to be decentralized, perhaps via torrents, and quickly.

The Kids Online Safety Act isn’t all right, critics say

Critics warn KOSA could trigger widespread censorship, privacy concerns.

RenewedRebecca,

@arstechnica To kill this, all you have to do is convince conservatives it will mostly affect their views.

If you are into programming languages, learning Ocaml (or other ML dialect like StandardML) makes a lot of sense, it's helpful for reading papers, watching conference talks, understanding basics of type theory, going through PL courses and all other fancy stuff.

Here is a good introductionary course on OCaml and functional programming:

@abcdw Thanks for posting this, I've been really interested in Ocaml lately 🙂

Playing with IBM TopView in DOSBox. Multitasking in DOS, 1985 before OS/2.
Took me a while to figure out how to use the keyboard (missing serial mouse), but once you got it, it's pretty cool to switch between app windows and move them around!

text mode DOS screen running topview, several windows for Program Grop. DOS services with directory browser, window to add a program, orange context menu for actions.

RenewedRebecca,

@flexion TopView was cool, except it could only multitask "well behaved" DOS programs, i.e. ones that used the BIOS to access hardware. So, anything that wrote directly to video memory, which was a lot of software, wouldn't work correctly.

Christian Eschatology: The Book of Revelation is the LITERAL word of God, and foretells EXACTLY what will happen in the last days!

Also Christian Eschatology: The so-called "mark" of the Beast might actually be a MICROCHIP or a VACCINE!

RenewedRebecca,

@maxleibman I remember in the late 80s, it was ATM cards. And people were sure that Gorbachev was the Beast.

Isn’t it a trip to think that everything we have online today, with the exception of real-time full-screen audio and video (streaming or otherwise), we could have had in 1998?

    RenewedRebecca,

@eschaton I’ve been saying this for years. There’s not much my MacBook Pro can do that my Atari ST couldn’t, it’s just a matter of speed and style.
